Hey everyone! I recently joined the club and picked up a 2023 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X. I’m absolutely loving the truck so far, but now that the honeymoon phase is settling in, I’ve realized it could use a few upgrades to make it more functional for my lifestyle. I’m mainly using it as a daily driver, but I also head out for weekend camping trips and occasional light off-roading.
I’ve been browsing through various catalogs, and the sheer number of options is a bit overwhelming. I’m trying to decide what to prioritize first. I’ve definitely been looking at a hard tri-fold tonneau cover for security, but I’m also curious about the Utili-track system. Are the sliding bed extenders actually worth the space they take up, or do they just get in the way? Also, the stock interior storage feels a bit limited, so I was considering some under-seat organizers or maybe upgraded all-weather floor liners since the carpet is already catching a lot of dirt.
I have a budget of about $800 to $1,000 for my first round of mods. For those of you who have owned a Frontier for a while, what are the top three most useful accessories that you find yourself using every single day?
Yo! Congrats on the PRO-4X, I'm still so stoked on mine tbh. If you're looking to maximize that $1k budget while fixing the storage issues, here's what worked well for me. I dont think the bed extender is worth it yet cuz it takes up a ton of room when you aren't using it. For your situation, these are my top 3 budget-friendly picks: * Vehicle OCD Center Console Organizer Tray for 2022-2024 Nissan Frontier – Only $20-25. The stock console is basically a black hole, so this is highkey the most useful thing I bought.
* Tyger Auto T3 Soft Tri-Fold Truck Bed Tonneau Cover – Around $260. Since you're on a budget, this saves you $500 over a hard cover but still keeps your camping gear dry.
* DEE ZEE Tailgate Assist Shock DZ43302 – About $35. It makes the tailgate drop slowly instead of slamming. Super easy install and makes the truck feel way more premium. You’ll still have like $600 left for ur floor liners or extra camping gear! Honestly, starting small is the way to go. good luck!
Sooo, I totally feel u on the storage issue—the Frontier is a great truck but Nissan definitely left some room for improvement in the cabin. For your situation, I've basically found that spending your first $1k on "livability" mods makes the biggest difference for a daily driver. Honestly, I've tried many different setups over the years, and focusing on protection and security first saves you money in the long run. The PRO-4X is capable, but it needs a little help to stay clean... Here is what I recommend prioritizing: 1. WeatherTech FloorLiner HP 441671 Front and Rear All-Weather Mats - Seriously, these are non-negotiable. The stock carpet is like a magnet for mud and camping dirt. These fit perfectly and you can literally just hose them off after a weekend trip. Worth every penny.
2. Rough Country Hard Tri-Fold Flip-Up Bed Cover 48122500 for 5ft Bed - Security is a huge deal for camping. It keeps ur gear dry and locked up at trailheads. Tri-folds are way better than roll-ups imo cuz they dont jam with sand or debris... and they look sharper.
3. Rough Country Under Seat Storage Compartment 99014 - Since the interior storage is kinda limited, this is a lifesaver for keeping tools or recovery gear from sliding around. Fits right under the back seat perfectly. Regarding the Utili-track... I think the sliding extender is mostly a headache? It takes up way too much bed space and I ended up taking mine out after like a month. Just get some extra Nissan Frontier Utili-track Tie-Down Cleats 999T7-BR000 instead. Theyre much more versatile for tying down gear without blocking the whole bed. Anyway, that setup should keep u right around your $1,000 budget. gl with the truck! peace 👍
^ This. Also, I totally agree with myrngwkonk about the tailgate assist. Its a lifesaver. Honestly, Ive spent way too much on my trucks over the years. The biggest lesson I learned is you dont always need the pricey OEM stuff to get the best quality. Since you're on a budget, I’d look at these:
Following this thread
In my experience, you should grab: 1. Z1 Off-Road Under Seat Storage
2. Dee Zee DZ43206 Tailgate Assist
3. Diode Dynamics SS3 LED Fog Light Kit Extenders basically kill camping utility tbh!
