What are the best off-road accessories and bed liners for a newer Nissan Frontier because I am honestly so fed up with the cheap factory stuff it came with. I bought this truck for camping and hitting the trails around Arizona but this plastic drop-in liner is a total nightmare and it rattles every time I hit a bump. I pulled it back yesterday and saw it's already scratching the paint down to the metal so now I'm worried about rust even though it's dry out here.
I have about 2500 dollars to spend and I need to get this thing trail-ready before my big trip to Sedona next month. I'm looking for a solid bed liner recommendation—maybe spray-on or a better mat—and some actual protection like rock sliders or a skid plate that isn't thin as a soda can. The stock protection feels like a joke and I'm tired of cringing every time a rock kicks up. I just want gear that actually lasts and doesnt feel like a waste of money... any brands you guys actually swear by?
Ngl those drop-in liners are garbage because they trap dirt and vibrate until the paint is gone. Since you're heading to Sedona, you definitely want to sort that out. A spray-on liner is the only real fix because it bonds to the metal and stops the friction. It adds some weight but the durability is night and day compared to plastic. Heres what I'd prioritize for a $2500 budget to get trail-ready:
Unfortunately, Nissans factory skid plates are basically just thin splash guards that provide zero structural protection against the rocks you'll see in Sedona. I have seen them fold like paper under the weight of a truck. With your 2500 dollar budget, you really need to prioritize material thickness over brand names. For the bed, since you are already seeing paint wear and hate the rattling, get a BedRug Classic Bed Liner Nissan Frontier. It is not like those cheap plastic inserts; it is a closed-cell foam that is tough as nails. It wont vibrate and sand your paint down to the metal, and it is way easier on the knees when you are camping. For actual protection, skip the aluminum. It gouges easily and hangs you up on obstacles because it isnt slick like steel. You want 3/16-inch CNC laser-cut steel for the rough stuff. I would look at the Victory 4x4 Strike Rock Sliders Nissan Frontier. They are frame-mounted and can actually handle the weight of the truck if you high-center. For the belly, grab the CBI Offroad Nissan Frontier Full Skid Plate Set. It covers the radiator, oil pan, and transfer case. Most people ignore the transfer case until it is too late... total rookie mistake. It sucks that the factory equipment is so subpar, but these parts actually have the structural integrity to survive Arizona terrain without deforming. Just make sure you get the powder-coated version to avoid the maintenance headache of raw steel.
Im still kind of new but Im satisfied with my setup tbh, check out the ClubFrontier forums.
