What are the absolute must-have performance upgrades for a 911 Carrera because honestly I'm so fed up with how sluggish this thing feels stock? I finally saved up and bought a 991.2 a few months ago but it's just not giving me that 'wow' factor I expected and my friend's M3 is literally walking me every time we go out to the canyons here in SoCal. It's actually embarrassing how quiet the exhaust is and the throttle response is just... laggy.

I have about $8,000 to drop on this right now and I really want it dialed in before my road trip to Monterey in October. Should I just go straight for a Cobb tune and headers or is there something else I'm missing? I'm honestly ready to sell it if I can't get it to feel like a real sports car soon...

Honestly, I get why youre frustrated. The 991.2 is a turbo car and Porsche leaves a massive amount of power on the table to protect their higher trim models. If you want to keep up with an M3 without blowing your engine, start with a solid ECU map. I used the Cobb Tuning Accessport V3 Porsche 991.2 Carrera on mine and the difference in torque is night and day. It completely changes how the car builds boost. Just stick to the Stage 1 maps if youre worried about long term reliability tho. For the lag and sound, your best bet is high flow sport cats. I went with the Soul Performance Products 200 Cell Sport Catalytic Converters 991.2 because they let the turbos spool way faster without making the car obnoxious or triggering a check engine light constantly. Since you mentioned being in SoCal, you really need to think about heat soak. Those tiny stock intercoolers struggle when youre pushing it in the canyons. If you have money left in that 8k budget, maybe look at the AMS Performance Porsche 991.2 Intercooler System to keep intake temps down. It keeps things consistent so you dont lose power halfway through a run. Its a decent option to ensure the car stays reliable under stress. Dont go too crazy with aggressive timing or you'll just end up in the shop instead of on your road trip. Stick to the basics and itll feel like a completely different machine.
