I just got the call from the dealer that my new Macan Electric is actually arriving this Friday and I am totally freaking out because I have literally zero ready for it. This is my first ever Porsche and my first ever EV so I am way out of my depth here and sorry if these are really stupid questions but I dont want to mess anything up on day one. I spent way more than I probably should have on this car and now I am realizing I have no idea what else I need to buy to keep it nice.
I live in Seattle and it is basically starting to rain every single day now so I am mostly worried about the interior getting trashed with mud and gunk. I saw some people talking about weather mats but I dont know if the ones from the factory are any good or if I should get something else? Also what about the charging situation? Do I need to buy a specific cable to keep in the trunk or does it come with everything I need to plug it in at a station? My garage is still just a normal outlet so I am kind of stressed about that too.
I also keep seeing stuff about paint protection or like screen covers for the big dash display because I have kids and they have sticky hands and I am terrified of them scratching the screens or the shiny black plastic stuff inside. Is there a list of stuff that is actually essential for the first week? Like:
I only have like 48 hours to get this sorted before I pick it up and I am just staring at Amazon and the Porsche shop feeling completely lost. What are the absolute must-haves that I need to order right now so I dont regret it the second I drive off the lot?...
Unfortunately, the factory Porsche mobile gear is pretty disappointing and prone to overheating on standard outlets.
Congrats on the Macan Electric! Ive been driving Porsches for over a decade and honestly, the delivery day panic is totally normal. Since youre in Seattle, your priority is definitely the rain and mud. In my experience, the factory rubber mats are decent, but if you want real protection for the carpets, you should look at the WeatherTech FloorLiner HP Custom Fit Floor Mats. Ive used them in my last three SUVs and they catch every bit of slush and gunk before it hits the floor. Regarding the charging, dont stress too much about the 48-hour window. The car comes with a mobile charger, but a standard wall outlet is gonna be painfully slow... like, only a few miles of range per hour. Youll eventually want a 240V NEMA 14-50 outlet installed in your garage for a proper home setup. Until then, you can just rely on public fast chargers for your first week. For the interior, I wouldnt bother with screen protectors. They usually ruin the anti-glare coating and look kinda tacky. Just keep a high-quality microfiber and something like Gtechniq I2 Tri-Clean Interior Cleaner in the door pocket. It works wonders on sticky fingerprints from the kids and wont damage the expensive finishes. Also, definitely grab a Porsche Macan Cargo Liner for the back. It has a raised lip that keeps spills contained if a grocery bag leaks. Much easier to hose that off than to try and steam clean the trunk carpet. Enjoy the pick up on Friday, its a hell of a car.
