I finally pulled the trigger on a new Ram 1500 TRX, and while it’s a beast right off the lot, I’m looking to take it on some more technical trails. I’m curious what you guys think are the 'must-have' upgrades for serious off-roading. I'm specifically looking for advice on high-clearance bumpers and whether I should upgrade the factory skid plates for better underbody protection. I’m also torn on which chase rack offers the best utility without adding too much weight. Since this is my daily driver too, I want to keep it functional but trail-ready. What specific off-road accessories have you found actually improve performance on the TRX?

Just sharing my experience: I went through this exact same internal struggle last year when I started taking my TRX into more technical terrain. Honestly, the costs add up so fast it's insane, so I focused on a budget-friendly approach. Instead of the high-end stuff already mentioned, I went with the SVC Offroad Mojave Front Bumper because it gave me that high-clearance look without completely draining my mod fund for the year. For underbody protection, I actually decided to stick with a partial setup to save weight and cash, just adding the RCI Offroad Front Skid Plate in 3/16" steel. It's saved my radiator more than once on some nasty drops! Regarding the rack, I found that the Leitner Designs Active Cargo System Forged was the best balance of utility vs weight for a daily driver. Basically, you don't need to spend 10k all at once to make this beast trail-ready. Good luck with the build, the TRX is literally a cheat code off-road lol.

Jumping in here since I've spent way too much time obsessing over TRX tech specs lol. Honestly, if you're hitting technical trails, you gotta check out the ADD Offroad Stealth Fighter Front Bumper. It’s high-clearance but low-profile so it won't ruin your daily driver vibes. For the underbody, check out the RCI Offroad Ram 1500 TRX Full Skid Plate Package—it's 3/16" steel and WAY tougher than the factory stuff. Pro tip: browse the RamTRX.com forums for their build threads, there's SO much good data there. Anyway, hope that helps!

In my experience, you definitely gotta prioritize the underbody first if you're hitting technical trails. The factory TRX plates are decent for sand, but they're basically aluminum foil against jagged rocks. I've been running the Mopar reinforced plates, but honestly, look into some of the heavier 3/16-inch steel options if you're worried about that transmission pan.

For the other bits, here is what I suggest:

* **High-Clearance Bumpers:** Go with a hybrid design. ADD makes some that really tuck up high to fix that approach angle without needing a massive lift.
* **Chase Racks:** If it's a daily, stick to a low-profile bed rack. The full-size ones look cool but the wind noise is LITERALLY deafening on the highway.
* **Power Steps:** Since it's a TRX, those rocker panels are targets. Get some rock sliders that double as steps.

I've tried many setups over the years and keep coming back to 'less is more' for weight. The TRX is already heavy, so don't overdo it or you'll feel that suspension struggle. gl!
