I’m finally taking delivery of my ProMaster EV soon and need to get the cargo area sorted. Since the battery placement might affect floor mounting, I'm curious what shelving or bin systems fit best without sacrificing range. Any specific brands that offer lightweight, secure options for this electric model? What are you all using to keep gear from sliding around?

Sooo I was super nervous about drilling into my EV too!! Honestly, I played it safe and went with the WeatherGuard ProMaster Van Shelving Starter Package because it’s surprisingly light for steel. To keep things cheap and avoid the battery, I just used Keeper 24-Inch Bungee Cords and a few Husky 12-Gallon Professional Duty Storage Bin units secured to the factory D-rings. It's wayyy cheaper than a full custom build-out, right? Safety first, plus it keeps the weight down for max range! 👍

yo congrats on the new van! i've been looking into this for a while cuz the floor mounting is definitely tricky with the battery pack. basically you gotta stick to wall-mounted systems or use the existing tie-down points to avoid drilling into the high-voltage zones. check out Adrian Steel TechSafe Shelving vs Ranger Design Foldable Shelving for ProMaster. honestly both are great but Adrian Steel is basically the gold standard for being lightweight while Ranger Design is better if you need to clear floor space quickly... so yeah depends on your workflow but keep it light to save that range!!

Honestly, I spent way too long overthinking the whole battery-floor-drilling nightmare when I first got mine. I really wanted to avoid those heavy steel setups because, tbh, weight is the enemy of range in an EV. I ended up going with a much lighter, modular approach that didnt cost a fortune, and im really happy with how it works daily. Basically, I focused on the wall ribs instead of the floor. Here is what I am using right now:

  • Vevor E-Track Tie-Down Rail 5ft bolted directly into the side wall structural beams.
  • DEWALT TSTAK Deep Tool Box with Wheels for my heavier gear, strapped right to the rails.
  • Amazon Basics Cargo Net for Vans to catch all the loose stuff that usually slides around. Using the E-track was the smartest move I made. It keeps everything off the floor so I never had to worry about puncturing the battery pack. Plus, the plastic bins are way lighter than those permanent metal shelves. It has been working well for me for months now with no complaints about the range or gear sliding around...

Lol I was literally about to post the same thing. Glad someone else brought it up.
