Hello, I'm planning to use it with Tesla Model 3 Performance and need a car charger recommendation. What would you take?

For Tesla Model 3 Performance I would take Vantrue N4 Pro Dash Cam without hesitation. The installation is very easy The build quality feels premium and should last for years.

Long-term experience: Using Vantrue N4 Pro Dash Cam for a few months and am thrilled. Have researched for a long time and this product was the best choice. The quality clearly exceeds my expectations. Very good price-performance ratio, can only recommend further.

TL;DR: Stick with the official brand charger and hire a pro for the electrical work to stay safe. Building on the earlier suggestion, it's pretty funny how everyone just started talking about dash cams when you actually asked for a charger lol. Since you're looking for the best way to juice up the Performance model, I would suggest just going with the official home unit from Tesla. You really can't go wrong with the first-party stuff because it integrates perfectly with the car. Just be careful with the installation tho. I've seen some DIY setups that look like a fire hazard waiting to happen. Make sure to get a licensed sparky to check your breaker and wiring before you plug anything in... those continuous loads are no joke. Better to spend a bit more upfront for peace of mind than dealing with melted outlets later on.

Honestly, everyone here has given some really solid advice on the extra gear and stuff!!! I totally agree that getting the tech right is key for a new Performance model, especially since you want to protect it with those cameras. I'm still relatively new to the whole EV world myself and get a bit confused by the specs sometimes, but I've been reading a ton of community reviews on the actual charging side of things because that's what I was looking for last month. It seems like most people in the forums basically say you cant go wrong with the official stuff or a few high-rated third party ones. From what I've gathered from other owners' insights, these are the top picks for home charging setups:

  • Tesla Wall Connector
  • ChargePoint Home Flex The Tesla one is basically the go-to because it looks cool and integrates with the app perfectly, but I've seen a lot of people recommend the ChargePoint if you want more flexibility or if you might have a different brand EV in the future?? Tbh I'm still learning about the different amp settings and things like that... does the Performance model charge significantly faster with a hardwired setup compared to a mobile connector? Just trying to help out based on what I've seen the community saying lately!!!

To add to the point above, it's kinda funny how the thread turned into a dash cam convention lol. Everyone is obsessed with the cameras, which are cool, but you gotta actually charge the thing first! Tbh though, since you're looking for the actual charger side of things, I'd suggest being really cautious about the electrical setup in your garage. Dont just plug into any old outlet without checking if it can handle the continuous load. I've seen people try to save a few bucks with off-brand adapters or cheap extension cords and it honestly isnt worth the risk of melting your charge port. Make sure to look for stuff that is properly rated... some of those generic ones get sketchy fast. Also, watch out for those cheap outlets from big box stores; they arent really meant for 8 plus hours of high current daily. Just trying to save you a headache or a fire department visit later on!
