Hey everyone! I finally took delivery of my Cybertruck, and I’m beyond excited to get it out into the wild. I’ve spent years overlanding in a traditional 4x4, but switching to an EV for off-grid camping feels like a whole new ballgame. I’m planning my first real off-road trip into the backcountry next month, and I want to make sure I’m properly geared up without over-packing or compromising the truck's range too much.

I’ve been eyeing the Tesla Basecamp tent, but I’m curious if there are better third-party rack systems that work with the vault. Also, since we have those awesome 120V and 240V outlets in the bed, I’m looking for a solid portable fridge or induction cooktop recommendation that won't drain the battery excessively overnight. I’m also a bit concerned about recovery gear—given how heavy this beast is, do I need specific heavy-duty traction boards or a particular jack that can handle the weight on uneven terrain?

I’m trying to keep the setup streamlined and efficient. For those of you who have already taken your Cybertruck off the pavement and into the woods, what are the absolute 'must-have' accessories you've found essential for a successful off-road camping trip?

Quick question - can you clarify your terrain? Sand needs different specs than rocks!!

1. BougeRV CR23 23 Quart Portable Refrigerator - it uses a high-efficiency compressor that draws minimal amps, which preserves your range.
2. Milwaukee 2848-20 M18 FUEL 18V Cordless Tire Inflator - I think you'll need this to air back up; it handles the Cybertruck's high PSI requirements easily.

Basically, staying light saves range. lmk what you think! gl!

Yo, had a moment to think about this more. Respectfully, I'd consider another approach. Been doing this for years and ur CT's weight changes the safety math entirely.

Basically, because this truck is so heavy, you gotta focus on gear that won't fail under pressure.

- iKamper Skycamp 3.0 Hard Shell Roof Top Tent vs Basecamp: The iKamper is way more rugged for high winds and leaves ur bed open for other gear.
- Dometic CFX3 45 Powered Cooler: Better than the budget brands cuz it sips power. i've found it dont hurt the range much at all overnight.
- Factor 55 Kinetic Energy Recovery Rope 30' x 1-1/4": Skip the boards. Kinetic is much safer than plastic boards that'll just crack under 7,000 lbs!!

Anyway, that's my two cents from the trail. gl!! 👍

Hey! Welcome to the club. Transitioning from a traditional 4x4 to an EV for camping is basically like switching from a flip phone to a smartphone... there is a bit of a learning curve but it's totally worth it. You might find this useful—check out the Cybertruck Owners Club forums. They have a dedicated "Overlanding & Camping" sub-section that is a goldmine for real-world range data and rack setups.

Technical wise, the Basecamp tent is sleek but ngl it eats up the whole bed. If you want a rack, look at the RealTruck GoRhino XRS Xtreme Rack System because it works with the T-slots and keeps the vault mostly usable for storage. For the fridge, you want something with a high-quality compressor like the Dometic CFX3 45. These things are insanely efficient; you wont even notice the battery drain overnight since the truck's main pack is massive compared to a standard 12V lead-acid battery.

For cooking, definitely go with the Duxtop 1800W Portable Induction Cooktop. It is way safer than carrying gas in the woods and plugs right into the bed outlets. About the recovery gear... yeah, this truck is heavy as hell. Standard cheap traction boards might snap under that weight. I'd seriously recommend getting the MAXTRAX MKII Recovery Boards—they're the gold standard for a reason. Also, for a jack, the Pro Eagle 3 Ton Big Wheel Off Road Jack is basically the only thing that will handle the Cybertruck on sand or mud without sinking. Anyway, hope this helps get you started! Good luck with the trip!! 👍
