Been driving EVs for years but just traded my Polestar for an EX30 arriving next week. The charge port layout is way different for my narrow Seattle driveway and my old 15ft cable wont cut it. Need something more flexible under $400 that fits the tiny frunk. What are you guys using for home setups?

> Need something more flexible under $400 that fits the tiny frunk. I totally get the struggle with those narrow Seattle driveways. Back when I lived in Ballard, I had a similar nightmare scenario where I practically had to park on the sidewalk just to reach the port. I actually ended up damaging a cheap cable because I kept pulling it too tight... honestly, be careful with that, because the mechanical stress on the port pins can lead to some really nasty arcing over time. For the EX30, you gotta be realistic about that frunk. It is basically a glorified glovebox. I would suggest looking into the Lectron NEMA 14-50 Level 2 EV Charger 40 Amp 21ft. It's way more manageable than the bulky wall-box style cables and fits into tight spaces better. The technical side is what really matters tho... make sure to verify your house wiring can handle a continuous 40-amp load. Most people don't realize that a standard NEMA 14-50 outlet isnt always rated for high-duty cycles unless it is a commercial-grade unit. If you find the 21ft is still a tight squeeze, you might want to consider the Mustart Level 2 Portable EV Charger 40 Amp 25ft. It gives you that extra bit of slack so you aren't tripping over it in the dark. Just a heads up, always check the thermal cutoff specs. If the plug gets too hot, it'll throttle your speeds, which is a massive pain when you need a full charge by morning.

Like someone mentioned, that frunk is really tiny! You absolutely need something with high-grade thermal protection and a UL listing or you're playing with fire. If you want serious reliability, go with the Lectron NEMA 14-50 40 Amp Level 2 EV Charger 25ft. It pulls exactly 9.6 kW and the cable jacket stays flexible even in cold Seattle rain! Most cheap units literally melt their pins but this one is built to last. It fits the frunk if you coil it tight. Another fantastic choice is the Schumacher SC1455 Level 1/2 Portable EV Charger 16A 28ft. Its only 16A but that 28ft reach is amazing for weird driveways and it passes every safety cert out there! Seriously, dont skimp on safety just to save a few bucks. The EX30 architecture is too expensive to risk on uncertified junk!

Ngl I am dealing with this exact same headache. Unfortunately, been comparing cable diameters and jacket materials for weeks but the options for that tiny frunk are not as good as expected. I have had issues finding a 25ft lead that actually coils into the space properly without exceeding the bend radius... its been a month and I still have no solution. That port layout is just awkward.
