I’m beyond excited to finally pick up my brand new BMW i4 next week! Since this is my first EV, I want to make sure I have everything ready to go from day one. I’ve already been looking into getting some high-quality all-weather floor mats and maybe a screen protector for that massive curved display, but I’m curious what else is actually worth the investment. Are there specific charging cable organizers or console inserts that fit the i4 perfectly? I’m also wondering if a ceramic coating or PPF is considered essential by current owners. For those who have been driving one for a while, what are the absolute must-have accessories you’d recommend for a new owner?

Not to disagree, but I'd actually suggest a different approach to the screen stuff. Honestly, I think the display looks way better naked, so I skipped the protector entirely and haven't had a single scratch in six months. What you REALLY need is a way to keep your trunk from becoming a disaster zone. I picked up the BMW i4 Genuine OEM Fitted Luggage Compartment Mat and it's basically a lifesaver for grocery runs and muddy gear. Plus, if you're worried about charging cables, the Lectron NEMA 14-50 EV Charger Cable Organizer is way better than just tossing the cord on the garage floor!

sooo i've been driving electric for a few years now and ngl, the first few weeks are a total learning curve! jumping in here because i'm all about that budget life. while the other guys mentioned some solid protection, i think you can save a ton of cash by being a bit more selective. honestly, you don't need to spend thousands on ppf right away if you aren't doing heavy highway commuting.

you might find this useful—instead of the pricey bmw-branded stuff, check out these high-value basics i've found over the years:

* **charging adapter:** since you're new to evs, you *gotta* have a Lectron Tesla to J1772 Charging Adapter 48A in your trunk. it lets you use destination chargers (not superchargers!) at hotels or malls that are usually tesla-only. basically a lifesaver.
* **cleaning:** skip the professional ceramic coating if you're on a budget and try Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating 16oz. i've used it for two years and it gives like 90% of the result for $15.
* **tires:** check out tire-rack.com to compare prices for when you inevitably need to replace the stock rubber—evs eat tires way faster than gas cars cuz of the weight!

pro tip: iirc, the i4 doesn't come with a great solution for the gloss black trim which scratches if you even look at it lol. i just use a pack of Amazon Basics Microfiber Cleaning Cloths 24-pack kept in the door pocket to gently wipe dust. anyway, congrats on the new ride! you're gonna love the instant torque... just watch your speed haha. gl!

Sooo when I picked up my i4 M50 last year, I went down a total rabbit hole with the technical specs of protection. Honestly, the first thing you gotta do is get a center console organizer. The deep bin is basically a black hole, so I grabbed the JDMSPEED Center Console Organizer Tray for BMW i4 and it fits like a glove.

Regarding the big stuff... seriously, if you care about your paint, get a ceramic coating. These cars have a lot of flat surfaces that catch everything. I did a DIY application of Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light and it makes washing so much easier cuz the dirt just slides off. But for the front bumper? PPF is king. The i4 sits low and the 'grille' area is a massive rock magnet. I've seen some nasty chips on cars without it.

Also, since the curved display is basically one giant fingerprint magnet, I actually skipped the screen protector and just keep a high-quality microfiber in the door. If you do go the protector route, make sure it's the Spigen Tempered Glass Screen Protector for BMW Curved Display cuz the matte finish helps with glare, which can be an issue with that screen angle.

TL;DR: Console tray is a must, ceramic coating is a life-saver for maintenance, and definitely PPF the front if you do any highway driving. gl with the pickup next week!! 👍
