so i finally picked up a 2022 silverado 1500 last week and the interior is nice but it feels way too empty and i know im gonna wreck it with mud soon since i live up in northern idaho. i have about 400 or 500 bucks to spend right now before my wife kills me for spending more on the truck haha. im really torn between a couple of paths for the first upgrades.
my logic was that i definitely need floor liners first. i was looking at the weathertech hp series because everyone raves about them but then i saw the husky liners x-act contour and they look a bit more rubbery which i think i prefer over that hard plastic feel of the weathertechs. has anyone tried both? i dont want my feet sliding around when they are wet.
also that center console is basically just a giant black hole. i was looking at those vehicle organized solutions (salex) grid things to actually separate my stuff or just getting one of those cheap drop in trays from amazon. the salex ones look way sturdier but they are like double the price. then i saw some guys talking about the rough country seat covers too since i have the cloth seats and i spill coffee literally every morning. im basically looking at:
what do you guys think is the better play for a daily driver? focus on the mats and the console or skip the console and get better seat covers? i need to pull the trigger by friday before a big camping trip...
Congrats on the 2022 rig, man. I've spent way too much time looking at the technical specs of these accessories and honestly, you dont need to blow the whole 500 bucks to get a solid setup for Idaho mud.
Honestly, i went through this with my last truck and unfortunately made the mistake of buying the "popular" brand first. The WeatherTech FloorLiner HP stuff is way too stiff for real work. They eventually curl at the edges and then they're just a trip hazard. If you're in Idaho, you're gonna have snow and mud, and that hard plastic gets slick as ice. I switched to the Husky Liners X-act Contour Floor Mats and they're much better. They actually grip your boots and stay soft in the cold. Don't risk your feet sliding under the pedals when you're trying to brake. About that console... i tried a generic one from amazon and it was trash. It rattled every time i hit a bump and didnt even fit the edges properly. Just spend the extra bit on the Salex Organizers Vehicle OC Center Console Organizer for the Silverado. It actually locks together and wont move around while you're driving. Regarding the seats, im honestly disappointed with entry-level covers. The Rough Country Neoprene Seat Covers are okay for the price, but they tend to hold heat and smell weird after a while. If you're spilling coffee every day, they might just soak it up and hold the scent. Better to save up for something higher end later. Focusing on the mats and the organizer is the safer bet for a daily driver. TL;DR: Go with the Husky liners for safety and the Salex for quality. Cheap amazon trays and basic seat covers usually end up in the trash after six months anyway.
Re: "Honestly, i went through this with my last..."
Re: "Congrats on the 2022 rig, man. I've spent..." - " Be careful with seat covers tho. Cheap universal ones shift and might block your side airbags. I would suggest Carhartt Precision Fit Seat Covers for a safe fit, even if they're pricey. For the floors, 3D MAXpider KAGU Floor Mats All-Weather Custom Fit are better than the hard plastic brands because they actually grip the carpet. Just make sure they click into the floor pegs so they dont jam your pedals... safety first.
