Which roof rack is best for a Chevy Equinox?

Hey everyone! I recently picked up a 2022 Chevy Equinox, and while I absolutely love the ride, I’m quickly realizing that the interior cargo space fills up fast—especially when I’m heading out for a weekend camping trip with the kids. I’m in the market for a reliable roof rack system, but I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by the options out there.

My Equinox came with the flush side rails already installed, so I’m specifically looking for crossbars that are easy to mount and won't whistle like crazy when I’m hitting highway speeds. I’ve been looking at the Thule WingBar Evo because of the reputation, but the price tag is a bit steep. On the other hand, I’ve seen some much cheaper universal sets on Amazon, but I’m worried about the build quality and whether they’ll actually fit the contour of the Chevy rails securely.

My primary goal is to mount a large Thule cargo box I already own, and occasionally a couple of mountain bikes. I’m really looking for that sweet spot between durability and value—I’d prefer to stay under $400 if possible, but I’m willing to go higher if it means the rack won't damage my paint or fly off on the interstate! I’m also a bit concerned about the sunroof clearance; I don't want to install something that prevents me from tilting or opening the glass.

For those of you who drive an Equinox, what setup are you currently running? Have you had better luck with the official GM accessories from the dealership, or is there an aftermarket brand like Yakima or Rhino-Rack that fits the profile of this car better? I’d love to hear about your experiences with wind noise and how easy the installation process was. Which roof rack do you think is truly the best fit for a Chevy Equinox?

In my experience, you should look at the Rhino-Rack Vortex StealthBar vs the Inno Rack XS400 Flush Aero Base.

1. Rhino-Rack: Top-tier aero profile, dead silent, but pushes your budget.
2. Inno: High-end Japanese engineering, way lower profile than Thule, and usually clears the sunroof easily.

Honestly, the Inno setup is the sweet spot for the Equinox. It handles the T-track on your Thule box perfectly without that annoying highway whistle. 👍

ok so, i've tested a few setups on my 2022 and here's the deal:

* GM official: Best fit and no sunroof issues, but kinda pricey.
* Generic Amazon: Lowkey sketchy quality and they usually whistle.
* Yakima: Highkey the best engineering for aero noise and T-slot specs.

honestly, just go with the Yakima brand... you can't go wrong with their mounting tech. I'm super happy with how mine works well, no complaints at all! 👍

Hmm, I've had a different experience. Honestly, I'd skip the budget brands. Safety is huge, so I went with a heavy-duty setup that doesnt whistle or wobble at high speeds. Worth the extra cash tho.
