Hey everyone! I just picked up a new FL5 and want to get it track-ready. It's awesome stock, but I want a bit more edge. I'm specifically looking at:

  • high-flow air intakes
  • upgraded intercoolers
  • stickier tires

I'm totally new to the Honda scene, so what are the best performance mods to start with?

Just saw this thread and wanted to chime in from a more data-heavy side. When I first started tracking my CTR, I focused way too much on raw power and ignored how the ECU handles heat. Honestly, the FL5 is super sensitive to IATs. In my experience, once those intake temps climb, the car pulls timing to protect the engine, and you basically lose all your momentum. I ended up installing the Eventuri Carbon Fiber Intake System FL5 because its sealed design actually keeps the heat soak out better than generic open filters. Also, please dont ignore your brakes for track days. I had a pretty scary experience with pedal fade early on, so now I always run Castrol SRF React Racing Brake Fluid. Pair that with some Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD09 265/30R19 tires and youll have much more consistent laptimes without the car freaking out after a few minutes of hard driving.

Check CivicXI forums for logs. Mishimoto Performance Intercooler Kit handles heat soak better than the lighter PRL Motorsports Intercooler Upgrade Kit. Reliability is everything if youre tracking it hard, honestly.

Saw this thread this morning and I totally agree that cooling is priority number one for these cars. Once you handle that, just go with any performance tire from Michelin. You basically cant go wrong with them for track work, tbh. They are pricier upfront, but they actually last and wont get greasy mid-session like the cheaper stuff does. Saves you money long term.
