Hey everyone! I finally joined the club and picked up a clean ND Miata last month. It’s an absolute blast to drive stock, but I’m really itching to start personalizing it. I’m looking for a solid mix of performance and styling mods that won't ruin the daily ride quality. I’ve been eyeing some progress sway bars to help with the body roll and maybe a cat-back exhaust for a bit more growl, but the sheer number of brands is overwhelming! For styling, I’m torn between a subtle front lip or upgrading the wheels first. What were the first 'must-have' accessories you installed that actually made a noticeable difference? I'd love to hear your favorite setups!
yo!! welcome to the club! honestly, the ND is such a blast but i totally get wanting to fix that body roll. i'm still kinda learning the technical stuff, but i've been around the scene for years and i think the Koni Sport Yellow Adjustable Shocks for Mazda MX-5 Miata ND are the ultimate move. basically, they're twin-tube shocks, so they absorb bumps way better than stiff coilovers. u get that planted feeling without shattering ur spine!! for styling, i'm lowkey obsessed with the Mazda OEM Appearance Package Front Air Dam for ND Miata. i remember when i first saw it... it looks sooo much better than the stock plastic. it adds just enough aggression without being too much. tbh what wheels are u gonna get?? i'm curious if u want 16s or 17s! TL;DR: grab Koni Sport Yellow Adjustable Shocks for Mazda MX-5 Miata ND for handling and the Mazda OEM Appearance Package Front Air Dam for ND Miata for style!
In my experience, I was terrified of the body roll at first—felt like I'd tip over! For your situation, I'd suggest the Flyin' Miata Front Sway Bar for about $150. It makes the car feel way more stable and safe. Plus, I saved enough for Hawk Performance HPS 5.0 Front Brake Pads at $100. Better stopping power is basically a huge safety win for any daily!! gl!!
In my experience, ur totally on the right track with the sway bars! Honestly, the ND has way too much lean from the factory. I would suggest starting with the Progress Technology Front and Rear Anti-Roll Sway Bar Kit—it basically transforms the handling without making the ride harsh at all. For a daily-friendly growl, I'm highkey obsessed with these:
* Good-Win Racing RoadsterSport SuperStreet Single Tip Exhaust - sounds amazing but no drone!
* Konig Hypergram 17x8 4x100 Matte Grey Wheels - shedding unsprung weight is a game changer. Tbh, definitely do wheels before the lip... trust me, it'll make a bigger impact on the look. Just be careful with going too stiff on the settings if ur still on stock shocks. Make sure to double check ur alignment after any suspension work too! Good luck with the build, the ND is sooo much fun to tweak! cheers
Sooo, honestly? Before you drop big cash, get a custom performance alignment. It's the best $150 you'll spend. Unfortunately, I've had issues with expensive cat-backs droning, which is basically a nightmare for a daily. For some growl, I'd suggest the Goodwin Racing RoadsterSport SuperLight. It's highkey better value than full systems and sounds great. Also, skip the front lip for now... it's gonna scrape on every driveway anyway. gl!
