I just picked up a 2024 CX-5 last week and since I live up in Seattle the rain is already making a mess of the carpets. Ive been looking around and people keep mentioning WeatherTech but they look kinda cheap and plasticky in the photos.

Then I saw TuxMat which looks way more premium but I'm worried the material wont actually hold up to real mud and gunk. I really dont want to spend more than like 200 bucks if I can help it. Does anyone have experience with these or maybe those 3D Maxpider ones? I just want something that fits tight and doesnt look like it belongs in a work truck... what are you guys using?

Saw this thread and had to chime in. I've been through this mat cycle too many times. Spending a chunk of change on WeatherTech FloorLiner HP High-Wall Floor Mats for my last CX-5 was honestly such a letdown. After about six months of heavy use, the edges started warping and pulling away from the door sill. It looked like crap and let water run straight onto the factory carpet. Trying the 3D MAXpider KAGU Series All-Weather Floor Mats because of the hype didnt help either since I had issues with the surface texture. Once they get wet from the rain, they are weirdly slippery if you're wearing flat-soled shoes. Unfortunately, they just werent as good as expected for the premium price. Quick tip: make sure your choice uses the factory retention clips so the driver side doesnt slide under the pedals during a hard brake.

Late to the party but @Reply #2 - good point! Ive seen those edges curl on the hard plastic mats way too often. If you're staying under that $200 mark, Id suggest looking at the 3D MAXpider Kagu Series All-Weather Floor Mats. They have a unique texture that looks way more high-end than standard rubber, and they dont have that shiny, cheap plastic look you're worried about. Basically, they use a three-layer design thats actually surprisingly good at dampening road noise too, imo. One quick tip: if you go this route, just use a damp cloth and some mild soap for cleaning. High-pressure hoses can sometimes mess with the fiber texture over time. They're definitely durable enough for Seattle rain... I've had mine through two messy winters and they still look new. They're basically the sweet spot for the CX-5 interior.

You might want to consider going with TuxMat for that premium look, though I would suggest checking the fitment around the dead pedal carefully so you dont get salt stains.
