Hey everyone! I just officially joined the Mazda family and picked up a beautiful 2024 CX-5 Carbon Edition last weekend. I’m absolutely in love with the interior—Mazda really nailed that premium feel—but I’m already starting to get that 'new car anxiety.' I want to keep everything looking pristine for as long as possible, especially since I plan on keeping this car for the next several years.

My main concern is the daily wear and tear. I live in an area where it rains quite a bit, so I know the factory carpet mats aren't going to cut it for long. I’ve been looking at all-weather options, but I’m torn. I want something that offers full coverage but doesn't look like I’m driving a work truck. I’ve heard people mention 3D MAXpider or TuxMat because they have a sleeker look that matches the CX-5’s cabin better than the bulky WeatherTech ones. Does anyone have experience with how these fit in the footwells?

Also, I’m seriously worried about the piano black trim around the gear shifter. I’ve only had the car for four days and I feel like I can already see faint swirl marks! Is there a specific screen protector or a pre-cut vinyl wrap that you guys recommend to save that finish? I’m also curious about cargo liners—I do a fair amount of grocery hauling and occasional hiking, so something that protects the seat backs when they're folded down would be a huge plus.

I’m willing to spend a bit more for high-quality stuff that actually fits the contours of the car perfectly. My budget is around $400-$500 to get the essentials sorted out. For those of you who have had your CX-5 for a while, what are the absolute 'must-have' interior protection accessories you’d recommend to a new owner?

Respectfully, I'd consider another option for that piano black. Those plastic covers look kinda cheap, right?

• Mats: Grab the 3D MAXpider KAGU Series Floor Liners. The texture matches the Carbon Edition's vibe better than TuxMat.
• Trim: Use the Mikstore Mazda CX-5 Interior PPF Kit. Its actual self-healing film, so dont worry about swirls literallyyy. It works way better than bulky covers.
• Cargo: The Mazda CX-5 Integrated Cargo Liner protects those seat backs perfectly.

Cheers!

So I totally get the new car anxiety, it's real! Honestly, I went through the same thing when I first got my CX-5. I wanted to save money but also didn't want it looking like a work truck. If you're looking to save some cash, I highkey recommend checking out the Findway F518 Style 3D Car Floor Liners. They have a carpet-like texture that looks way more premium than rubber, and they're usually around $90-$100 for the set.

For that piano black trim, be CAREFUL. I tried a cheap DIY vinyl wrap once and it was a huge headache to get right. I'd suggest just getting a TTCR-II Center Console Gear Shift Panel Cover for Mazda CX-5. It basically just snaps on, looks stock, and only costs like $30. For the back, the Mixsuper Cargo Liner with Backrest Protector for 2017-2024 Mazda CX-5 is a lifesaver for hiking gear. It covers the seat backs too and is half the price of the official ones. You can get everything for under $250. It works well tho! gl

Stumbled upon this while looking for my own solutions and man, I am right there with you on that piano black anxiety... it is seriously the most stressful part of owning a new Mazda. I have the same Carbon Edition and I swear it scratches if you even look at it the wrong way. I have been trying to stay on a strict budget too because the car payment is enough as it is, but man it is tough.

  • I actually tried to save some cash by making my own trim protectors with a roll of VViViD 3M Scotchgard Clear Paint Protection Film and some scissors. Total fail tho. It looked like a DIY disaster with all the bubbles.
  • For the cargo area, I have been using a Cartman Heavy Duty Padded Moving Blanket instead of a real liner to save about 80 bucks, but it slides around constantly and drives me nuts.
  • I even looked into generic mats from the local big box store but they never fit the footwell quite right, and honestly, they just look cheap next to the leather. It is such a struggle trying to keep that premium feel without blowing another 500 dollars on accessories right after buying the car. Every time I see a new smudge near the shifter I die a little inside, ngl.

TL;DR: get sleek liners and trim covers. tbh I was sooo worried about scratches, but the setup I got literally saved my interior. works well and looks pretty good! gl

Honestly, I’ve done a ton of market research on this and there’s a big divide between 'utility' brands and 'aesthetic' ones. If you want to keep that premium vibe, you should definitely look into TuxMat Custom Car Mats. I was comparing them to the WeatherTech FloorLiner HP—which is their newer, softer material—and the TuxMat coverage is just on another level. It basically covers all the carpet up the sides of the footwell, which is huge for keeping things clean without it looking like a work truck. For the cargo area, check out Canvasback Cargo Liners. They’re a bit more niche and I’m not 100% sure if they’ve updated the 2024 templates yet, but they’re custom-fit fabric shields. They look way more 'pro' than those bulky plastic trays that always seem to rattle around, right? Anyway, it might push your budget a bit, but it’s the best way to go if you want to keep the interior looking classy.
