What are the must-have interior accessories for a new Mazda CX-5?

Hey everyone! I just picked up a brand new Mazda CX-5 last week, and I’m absolutely in love with the premium feel of the cabin. However, I’ve already noticed a couple of things that I’d like to address early on. For one, that piano black trim around the shifter is a total fingerprint and scratch magnet, and the center console feels like a bottomless pit where my keys and coins just disappear.

I really want to keep the interior looking pristine while also making it more functional for daily use. I’ve been looking into all-weather floor mats, but I’m torn between the official Mazda high-wall liners and aftermarket options like TuxMat or WeatherTech. I also have a dog, so a durable cargo liner is high on my list to protect the carpet from hair and mud.

I’ve seen some people mention screen protectors for the infotainment display and specific organizers for the glove box. Are there any other 'hidden gem' accessories that you guys swear by for the CX-5? I'm looking to prioritize the essentials that actually improve the daily driving experience or help maintain the car's resale value. What are your absolute must-have interior accessories that you think every new CX-5 owner should buy immediately?

Sooo I totally get the anxiety about that piano black trim—it's basically a magnet for swirls. For your situation, I would suggest looking into a dedicated cover before it gets too scratched up. I personally used the RUIYA Mazda CX-5 Center Console Gear Shift Panel Overlay in a matte carbon fiber finish and it was a lifesaver. It literally stops the glare and hides all the fingerprints, right?

Another hidden gem is a tempered glass protector, like the Spigen Glas.tR Slim Screen Protector for Mazda CX-5 10.25-inch. Most people forget the screen gets micro-scratches just from wiping dust off. Also, to fix the glove box, the Vehicle OCD Glove Box Organizer for Mazda CX-5 (2017-2024) is essential so stuff doesnt just slide around every time you turn. Be careful with generic brands tho—fitment can be hit or miss. I think maybe checking the thickness of the cargo liner is key for the dog too? good luck!

For the piano black, a good microfiber cloth works wonders, and a console organizer is an absolute game-changer for keys and coins! For mats, WeatherTech and TuxMat are excellent aftermarket choices, but Mazda's high-wall liners are also great. A durable cargo liner is definitely a must-have for your furry friend! Enjoy making your CX-5 perfect for you!

Sooo basically, before you deck out the cabin, you gotta think about safety cuz loose gear can be a nightmare in a sudden stop. Honestly, a lot of people overlook how dangerous a loose dog or sliding cargo can be. That's why I'd suggest a real barrier over those flimsy universal nets.

I compared the Travall Guard Dog Barrier TDG1518 vs the generic Bushwhacker - Paws n' Claws K9 Backseat Barrier. The Travall is way better because it's a solid frame that won't give way. The generic fabric ones are okay, but they sag over time and aren't as secure.

Also, check out the Lusso Gear Car Seat Protector. It’s around $30 and has a grip-textured bottom so it doesn't slide around. It protects the resale value while keeping things safe. Safety first, right?? Good luck with the new ride tho!

yo, congrats on the ride! i feel u on the piano black—it's *the worst*. here is what i actually use:

• JDMCAR Center Console Organizer Tray for Mazda CX-5 basically saves ur life from the "pit" lol.
• Get TuxMat Mazda CX-5 Custom Floor Mats, i think they look way more high-end?
• For the dog, Canvasback Mazda CX-5 Cargo Liner is honestly legendary.

seriously, that tray is like... the biggest "hidden gem". gl!

Yeah, honestly you guys have covered the basics so well already! It basically boils down to protecting the surfaces and fixing the storage gaps. I totally agree with the last point about safety being a huge factor people forget—it’s not just about looks. Tbh, I've been diving into a bit of market research for my own CX-5 and it's kinda overwhelming seeing all these different brands. It feels like there's a huge divide between the 'rugged' utility brands and the ones trying to match the actual Mazda premium aesthetic. Just a tiny thought—when you're comparing these different brands, definitely look at the material quality in reviews! Some of the aftermarket stuff looks great in photos but might feel a bit cheap compared to the rest of the cabin once you actually touch it. It’s a lot to think about when your just trying to keep your new ride looking fresh!!!

Just found this thread and honestly, you gotta be so careful with that piano black trim. My biggest warning is never, ever wipe it when it is dry. Even a clean finger can leave micro-scratches if there is some dust on there. Use a damp, high-quality microfiber or better yet, look into a DIY vinyl wrap. I tried those stick-on plastic covers first but they felt cheap and actually rattled on the highway, which drove me nuts. Also, a huge heads up on the floor mats... dont go the cheap universal route. I tried some generic ones once to save a few bucks and they constantly slid forward, which is actually pretty dangerous if it gets stuck under the pedals. You definitely want something that hooks into the floor pins properly. Lastly, if you're doing the DIY screen protector thing, do it in a humid bathroom after a shower to keep the dust down. Getting a single piece of lint under there is enough to ruin the look of that nice infotainment screen!
