Hey everyone! I finally joined the club and picked up a 2024 Mazda CX-5 last week. I’m absolutely in love with the premium cabin feel—it really punches above its weight class compared to other crossovers I tested. However, I want to make sure I’m keeping it in pristine condition while also making it a bit more functional for my daily commute and weekend grocery runs.
Since the CX-5 is known for that beautiful but delicate piano black trim, I’m already getting a bit nervous about scratches and fingerprints. I’m also finding that the center console is a bit of a 'black hole' where everything just gets buried at the bottom. I’ve been looking at some organizer trays, but I’m not sure which ones fit the best. Also, for those of you in wetter climates, are the OEM all-weather mats worth it, or should I go for something like TuxMat or WeatherTech for better coverage of the footwells?
I’m trying to keep the interior looking classy without cluttering it up too much. For those who have owned their CX-5 for a while, what are your top 3 must-have interior accessories that you think every owner should invest in right away?
Oh man, I love that new car smell! Honestly, if you wanna keep it looking mint without spending a ton, here's what I recommend: 1. Spigen Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Mazda CX-5 10.25-inch Display — it’s cheap and basically wipes clean.
2. Kust Cargo Liner for 2024 Mazda CX-5 is pretty awesome for grocery runs without the OEM price tag.
3. Vatowe Soft TPU Key Fob Cover for Mazda cuz those fobs scratch sooo easily. Peace! 👍
Sooo, I've been through this with my last two Mazdas. For the console, just grab a cheap Salusy Center Console Organizer Tray for Mazda CX-5 for under $20—literally a lifesaver. Regarding mats, skip OEM and go for 3D MAXpider KAGU All-Weather Floor Mats cuz they're better value than WeatherTech. For that piano black? Just get some RUIYA Center Console TPU Protective Film. It’s way cheaper than replacing scratched trim later!! gl!
Hmm, I've had a different experience when it comes to prioritizing the 'looks' over the actual technical safety of the cabin. While I get wanting to keep things pristine, I'd actually suggest a different approach—specifically regarding the floor mats and those console covers. I've seen so many people grab the cheapest tray they find online, but honestly, some of those plastics have terrible off-gassing properties when they sit in a hot car all day. Plus, they can rattle like crazy, which totally ruins that premium Mazda vibe you're talking about. I went with a custom-molded option for my current setup that has a rubberized lining to keep things silent and secure. Regarding the mats—this is highkey a safety issue. I've tested a few different brands, and while some offer 'maximum coverage,' they can actually interfere with the pedal travel or the seat rails if the tolerances aren't perfect. I personally stick with the heavy-duty ones that use a reinforced locking system. They might be pricier, but knowing they won't slide under the brake pedal is basically worth the peace of mind. Also, iirc, those glass screen protectors can sometimes cause glare issues or mess with the touch sensitivity in extreme temps. I ended up just using a high-quality ceramic coating on my piano black and the screen. It doesn't add bulk, and it's been working really well for me for over a year now. No scratches and way easier to clean without adding more 'stuff' to the dash. Just my two cents! 👍
Adding my two cents here cuz I actually had a pretty bad experience with the OEM all-weather mats. Unfortunately, they’re pretty disappointing because the coverage under the gas pedal is basically non-existent, which lets salt and mud ruin the carpet. If you're in a wet climate, I’d suggest the TuxMat Custom Fit Floor Mats for Mazda CX-5 2017-2024. They have way better sidewall protection, though they're kinda bulky to install. For that piano black trim, be careful... I tried a cheap vinyl wrap and it looked terrible after a month. Instead, look into the Autoclover Center Console Carbon Fiber Style Cover for Mazda CX-5 – it’s a hard shell that’s much more durable than film. Lastly, for the "black hole" console, if you want something more technical than the basic trays, the Musology Center Console Organizer for Mazda CX-5 with Coin Holder fits the 2024 model specifically well. Just make sure ur not blocking the USB ports... I've seen some people struggle with cable clearance!! Good luck with the new CX-5 anyway.
