Hey everyone, I'm looking for the best dash cam for my Mercedes GLE. I've seen a few options online, but I'm not sure which ones integrate best with the Mercedes tech. Anyone have recommendations for a dash cam that works well with the GLE's parking sensors and doesn't interfere with the blind spot monitoring? Ideally looking for front and rear recording too. What's worked best for you guys?

Can confirm this works. Did the same thing on mine and its been solid ever since.

Regarding what #6 Kennethcek said about the dash cam rabbit hole and the install snags... hes totally right. Its a mess once you start pulling panels. Weve pretty much touched on everything here from the pricey Mercedes OEM stuff to the Viofo and Thinkware battery issues. Honestly ive been so happy with my GLE over the years, everything just works well and i have no complaints. Speaking of things working well, did you guys see that new trim color they released for the 2024s? It reminds me of this old leather jacket I used to have back in college. I wore that thing everywhere, even to a wedding once which was a huge mistake looking back at the photos. My wife still gives me grief about it whenever we go through the old albums... anyway lol.

Hey! I had a similar question a while back. I ended up going with the Thinkware U1000 (front & rear). Honestly, the parking mode integration wasn't as good as expected – had some issues with battery drain. That said, the video quality is fantastic, and it doesn't seem to mess with the blind spot monitoring in my GLE. So yeah, video quality A+, integration B-. Hope this helps!

Hey! I've been messing with dashcams for a while. For the GLE, a direct Mercedes-Benz dashcam might be the cleanest install, though pricey. Think about it: full integration.

Alternatively, BlackVue's DR900X Plus is a solid option, or the Viofo A129 Pro Duo if you're on a budget. Neither integrates *perfectly* with all the GLE's sensors, but they're decent options. It really depends on your needs and budget, TBH. Good luck!

Hey there!

I totally get the dashcam struggle! I've been through a few myself, trying to find that sweet spot between features and price. The direct Mercedes one IS super clean, as mentioned, but *ouch* on the wallet. And honestly, sometimes those integrated systems aren't *always* the best VALUE.

So, here's a different angle: Have you considered a good mid-range dashcam and just skipping the super-integrated features? I'm running a Viofo A129 Pro Duo (front and rear) in my wife's SUV, and honestly, it works great for the price. It doesn't tie into the parking sensors or anything fancy, but the video quality is excellent, and it's been reliable. I got it for around $250, and installation was pretty straightforward – just tucked the wires neatly. Plus, the video evidence is what REALLY matters if something happens, right?

The lesson I've learned is that sometimes the 'perfect integration' comes at a HUGE premium, and you might be paying for features you don't really need. For example, do you *really* need the dashcam to alert you to blind spots when the car already does that?

Another decent option to consider is the Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2. Super discreet, good quality, and doesn't break the bank. Again, no fancy integration, but it's a solid, reliable camera.

Ultimately, it depends on your needs and budget. If you absolutely MUST have that seamless Mercedes experience, then yeah, the Mercedes dashcam is probably the way to go. But if you're okay with a slightly less integrated solution that saves you a bunch of money, there are definitely some great alternatives out there. Just make sure it has good reviews for video quality and reliability!

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask questions.

Hey there! I totally get the dashcam dilemma! Everyone's focusing on integration and features, which is cool, but I'm gonna throw a slightly different angle in here: safety and reliability, especially for something like a GLE.

Honestly, after seeing dashcam footage from accidents over the years (and I've seen *a lot*!), my biggest concern would be making sure the dashcam is rock-solid and *always* recording when it needs to. Forget fancy integrations if the thing decides to take a nap right before a fender-bender, right?

So, instead of specifically recommending a brand that *integrates* best, I'd suggest digging into reviews that focus on reliability in extreme temperatures and long-term data retention. A dashcam that glitches out in the summer heat or corrupts your footage is basically useless, regardless of how well it talks to your car's system.

Think about it: What good is parking mode if it fails to record a hit-and-run because of a software bug? Or blind spot monitoring interference if the camera just shuts off randomly? I've had cameras that claim to have amazing features, but then they just completely fail to start up when I need them most. Super frustrating!

Maybe look into brands known for industrial-grade reliability? They might not be the sexiest or have the best Mercedes integration, but they prioritize consistent recording above all else. Read reviews specifically mentioning those aspects. Check if the camera uses capacitors instead of batteries, as capacitors generally handle heat better. Just my two cents! Hope this helps! Good luck!

Hey there! Everyone's giving great suggestions! I'm still pretty new to the dashcam world, but I've been doing a *lot* of reading up on them lately since I'm thinking of getting one myself! So, instead of specific models, I thought I'd share what I've learned about different brands, since that might help you narrow things down.

Okay, so here's my super-beginner take on a few brands:

* **Thinkware:** These seem really popular, and I've seen a lot of people say they're reliable. BUT, and it's a big but, I've also seen some complaints about their parking mode, like in Reply #1! So maybe do some extra digging specifically about how well it integrates with the GLE. I feel like Thinkware might be a good middle-ground in terms of price/features.

* **BlackVue:** BlackVue seems to be a step up in price and features from Thinkware. I've heard good things about their cloud connectivity. Also, I think if you're willing to spend a bit more, I believe BlackVue is definitely the way to go! I am not sure what would be better, but I'd love to hear from other folks about this!

* **Mercedes-Benz:** As others have mentioned, the official Mercedes dashcam would probably have the best integration. BUT, get ready to open your wallet! From what I understand, it's pretty pricey. I wonder if it's *worth* the price difference considering you could get a really good Thinkware or BlackVue for less. Anyone have experience with the Mercedes one? I'd love to hear!

* **Garmin:** Honestly, I haven't researched these as much. I know Garmin makes GPS devices, but I'm not sure how their dashcams stack up against Thinkware and BlackVue. Has anyone had good luck with Garmin dashcams in their Mercedes?

Okay, so that's my newbie overview! Honestly, I'm probably going to lean towards Thinkware or BlackVue when I finally take the plunge. But it's a tough choice! Hope this helps a little! Maybe someone with more experience can chime in and correct me if I'm wrong! Good luck with your search! Feel free to ask questions.

Hey there!

I've been down the dash cam rabbit hole for *years*, and with a few different cars, so I've learned a thing or two. While everyone's talking about brand and features, have you considered the install? That's where I always seem to run into snags, especially with newer cars like the GLE.

Honestly, if you're even a little unsure about wiring stuff up, especially tapping into the car's power for parking mode, I'd strongly suggest a professional install. I tried to DIY a BlackVue install on my previous car (not a Merc, thankfully!), and unfortunately, I ended up with a parasitic drain that took me ages to diagnose. Cost me more in the long run than just paying someone to do it right the first time!

That said, if you *are* comfortable with car electronics, check out some YouTube videos specific to the GLE. There might be some hidden wiring harnesses you can tap into, but be super careful not to mess with anything related to the airbags or safety systems! I'm all for saving money, but some things are best left to the pros. Plus, if they mess it up, they're liable. If *you* mess it up... well, you're on your own, haha.

Good luck with your dashcam hunt! Let me know if you decide to tackle the install yourself; I might have some tips (and warnings!).
