I love my Mirage G4’s fuel economy, but it feels a bit sluggish during highway merging. I’m looking for bolt-on mods that improve throttle response without killing my MPG. Should I start with a cold air intake or maybe a rear sway bar for better handling? What are the best bang-for-buck upgrades you’ve actually tried?
yo, saw this earlier but just getting back to u. honestly, a full AEM Cold Air Intake 21-744C sounds sick but might heat soak in city traffic. i'd compare that to a simple K&N High-Flow Air Filter 33-3013 drop-in; the k&n is way better bang-for-buck! for handling, the Whiteline 16mm Rear Sway Bar is a solid alternative if u want something slightly less stiff than the 19mm. what tires u running tho?? 👍
Hmm, Id actually suggest a different approach - I mean, I've been driving these for years, and bolt-ons dont really change the 3-cylinder engine much. Have you thought about the safety side? 1. Michelin Defender 2 175/65R14: Pros are way better grip and it's SO much safer when it's wet out. Cons: you might lose a tiny bit of MPG.
2. Enkei RPF1 14x7: Pros are they're like, super light. Dropping unsprung weight makes it feel less sluggish. Cons: kinda expensive.
3. Power mods (like the ones above): Pros: better sound. Cons: dont really help you stop or turn in an emergency. I guess I'd go with the tires first. Its basically the best bang-for-buck for safety and it actually helps you put the power down better. Idk, just seems more reliable long-term. gl!
Ok so, honestly, after years of tuning these, bolt-ons wont give u much power on the 3A92 engine. For that sluggish feel, you NEED the APEXi SMART Accel Controller. It's literally a game changer for throttle response! For handling, grab the Ultra Racing 19mm Rear Anti-roll Bar. Makes highway merges feel way more stable. Cold air intakes just make noise tbh lol. gl!
