Hey everyone! I just recently joined the Mirage family with a new G4, and I'm absolutely loving the fuel efficiency so far. Since this is my daily driver for both commuting and the occasional weekend road trip, I really want to maximize its practicality and keep the interior in good shape.
I’m specifically looking for 'utility' accessories that actually add function to the car. I’ve already noticed that the trunk is a decent size, but my groceries tend to slide around quite a bit back there. Has anyone found a specific trunk organizer or cargo net that fits the G4 dimensions perfectly? I’m also looking into heavy-duty all-weather floor mats because the stock carpet ones seem like they won't hold up well against mud or spills.
Another thing I’m curious about is interior storage—the center console area is a bit tight. Are there any specific tray inserts or dash mounts that work well with the G4’s layout without blocking the touchscreen or vents? I want to keep things organized and durable without spending a fortune. For those of you who have had your G4 for a while, what are the absolute 'must-have' utility accessories you'd recommend for a new owner to make the car more functional?
Sooo, congrats on the new G4! I've had mine for a while now and honestly, the fuel savings are amazing. For the trunk, I highkey recommend the Genuine Mitsubishi MZ314815 Cargo Net because it’s designed specifically for our anchor points—universal ones tend to slip and could actually fail if you’ve got heavy gear back there.
For the floors, I’d suggest WeatherTech FloorLiner 441021. Honestly, dont settle for the cheap "trim-to-fit" ones; they can slide under your pedals, which is seriously dangerous. As for the tight console, I use a CDEFG Mitsubishi Mirage Center Console Organizer Tray to basically double the usable space. One warning tho: be careful with dash mounts. Dont block your vents or the airbag deployment zones!! I use the Scosche MagicMount Dash Magnetic Phone Mount on the flat plastic area. It stays out of the way of the touchscreen. Hope this helps, gl! 👍
Respectfully, I'd consider another option before you spend big on the OEM net. I've had a different experience where those nets actually get in the way more than they help... especially with bulky groceries. Plus they're usually way overpriced. Honestly, for the G4, u gotta think about safety and value together.
Basically, if ur trunk is sliding, a bin is more versatile. And for floor mats, please be careful with cheap universal ones. If they bunch up under ur pedals, it's literally a safety hazard. I’d suggest these instead:
* Starling's Car Trunk Organizer with Adjustable Straps - way cheaper and u can just pull it out when u need the full trunk space.
* Husky Liners WeatherBeater Series Floor Mats for Mitsubishi Mirage G4 - they’re a bit of an investment but they lock into the factory pegs so they wont slide around.
I think these are a better long-term move for a daily driver. gl! 👍
Yep been there done that. Can confirm everything said above is spot on.
Sooo, I went through this last year! The G4 basically has thin trunk lining that offers zero grip. It matters because without some texture, everything becomes a projectile back there lol. It actually ruined a grocery haul for me once. Quick question tho: are you dealing with lots of mud or just rain? Also, whats ur budget? I'm kinda cautious about suggesting the wrong thing.
Everyone has made some great points about cargo management and protecting the floors from mud. Those are solid basics, but if you want to actually improve the utility and comfort of the G4, you have to look at the DIY stuff the factory skipped to save weight. As a daily driver, visibility and cabin NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) are huge. You can totally do these upgrades yourself for less than fifty bucks, right?
yo! Just sharing my experience: I was highkey worried about heavy groceries becoming projectiles during stops. I tried some cheap rubber grip liners vs. weighted cargo blocks. The blocks were way safer for heavy loads!! Honestly, I'm still learning the specs tho. Quick questions: what’s the heaviest stuff you usually haul? And do you prioritize floor coverage or just spill protection? I'm curious because the weight distribution matters for safety!!
