Which floor mats fit best in a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross?

Just picked up a 2024 Eclipse Cross and Im losing my mind with these universal mats. Ive owned Mitsubishis for years so I thought the fitment would be similar to my old Outlander but the driver side anchor points are totally different and the mat keeps sliding under the brake pedal which is super dangerous.

I live in Portland and its basically monsoon season right now so I need something that actually holds the water before my carpets get ruined. I have a big road trip next Thursday and really need a set that covers the dead pedal area properly. Should I just bite the bullet on WeatherTechs or are the OEM rubber ones better?

Ive found WeatherTech FloorLiner Laser Measured Floor Mats work best for safety.

Actually, I kind of have a different take on the WeatherTechs. I used them for years in my old cars but I always found them a bit too slippery and plastic-y, especially when my boots were soaked. I had a close call once where my foot slipped off the brake because the mat surface was just too slick, so now I'm way more cautious about what I put on the floorboards. When I got my Eclipse Cross, I wanted something that felt more secure and actually covered the dead pedal properly because that's where all the mud usually ends up. I've been super satisfied with these alternatives:

  • TuxMat Custom Car Mats for Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross: These are honestly the gold standard if you want coverage. They go way higher up the sides than the OEM or WeatherTech ones. They basically look like a custom floor. I've had them for a year and they havent budged an inch, plus they cover the entire dead pedal area so no salt or water gets underneath.
  • Smartliner All Weather Custom Fit Floor Mats for Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross: If you want to save a bit of money for your road trip, these are a great shout. They're a bit more flexible than the hard plastic types which makes them easier to pop out and spray down at the car wash. The fitment on the 2024 clips is spot on. tbh the TuxMats were a bit of an investment, but for Portland weather, they're worth every penny for the peace of mind.

ngl, that sliding mat thing sounds super dangerous, especially with a road trip coming up. You might want to consider Husky Liners WeatherBeater Series Front and Second Row Floor Mats because they usually have a bit more grip than the stiff plastic ones. Researching the specs shows these specifically cover that dead pedal area you're worried about, which is a big win for Portland rain. Finding some warehouse deals online might save a few bucks over the big name brands. Just be careful and make sure to:

  • verify the retention clips click in perfectly
  • check that the mat doesn't snag the pedal at full compression
  • look for high-density polyethylene specs for better durability Basically, you want that custom fit without the insane markup. Maybe check if Mixsuper Custom Fit All Weather Floor Mats for Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross are in stock too, as they're a solid budget alternative. Just stay safe on that drive!

^ This. Also, I've been super satisfied since I moved away from those generic sets. IIRC, the 2024 floor pan has a slight tweak that messes with older clips. I once had a mat jam my throttle and it was terrifying, so I get the stress.

  • Look for high sidewalls
  • Check for aggressive backing nibs I think some of the newer thermoplastic options handle PNW mud way better than basic rubber.
