I just picked up a new Porsche Cayenne and want to make sure it’s protected with a solid dash cam setup. I’m looking for something that offers a clean, OEM-like look because I really don’t want messy wires hanging over the dash. I've been looking at the official Porsche Dashcam, but I've heard mixed reviews regarding the app functionality. Does anyone have experience with FitcamX for that integrated look, or should I stick with a high-end BlackVue or Vantrue for better 4K quality and parking mode? Also, any tips on tapping into the mirror power source versus hardwiring to the fuse box? What are you all currently running in your Cayennes?

Sooo, I actually tried the Porsche Dashcam first and yeah... the app is basically trash lol. For your situation, I would suggest looking at the FitcamX Dash Cam for Porsche Cayenne (2019-2024). It looks LITERALLY factory, but be careful with the install—it’s kinda tight. If you want better 4K, maybe get the BlackVue DR970X-2CH Plus with 256GB microSDXC. It's more wires, but parking mode is way more reliable imo!

Seconding the recommendation above! Honestly, that official app is pretty terrible lol. If you want that OEM look without the high price, I'm kind of a beginner at this but I've been looking into the FitcamX Dash Cam 4K for Porsche Cayenne 2018-2024. It's AMAZING because it literally replaces the mirror shroud so there's zero wires!! Plus, you can find it for like $170-200 which is such a steal compared to others. Just make sure to grab a SanDisk 128GB High Endurance microSDXC Card cuz cheap ones fail too fast! GL!!

I am actually dealing with this exact same dilemma right now. Over the years, I have tested several different setups across my vehicles, and I'm finding it really difficult to compromise on the new Cayenne. In my experience, you almost always have to choose between a clean aesthetic and the actual technical performance required for high-bitrate recording. Here is what I have observed during my own testing:

  • Many integrated shrouds lack proper thermal management, which leads to sensor degradation or random restarts in the summer.
  • Using a mirror tap can sometimes cause weird interference with the rain sensor or auto-dimming features depending on the power draw.
  • Most of the proprietary apps have major latency issues when you're trying to pull large 4K files over a local connection. Honestly, I still haven't found a solution that meets my standards for both build quality and data integrity. It is a bit of a nightmare trying to find hardware that matches the car's engineering without looking like a mess of wires.
