Hey everyone! I just recently took delivery of my new Tesla Model 3 Highland Long Range, and while I’m absolutely loving how much quieter and more refined the ride is compared to the previous generation, I can't help but feel it’s a bit too 'tame' in the corners. I’m looking to sharpen the driving dynamics a bit without completely ruining that improved comfort.
I’ve been researching a few options, like lighter forged wheels to reduce unsprung weight and perhaps some upgraded sway bars or lowering springs to help with the body roll. However, since the Highland has those updated frequency-selective dampers and slightly different suspension geometry, I’m a bit nervous about what’s actually compatible and worth the investment right now. I’m also curious if anyone has found high-performance brake pads that fit the new calipers for better initial bite during spirited drives.
I’m not looking to turn this into a full-blown track car, but I definitely want it to feel more athletic and responsive. Has anyone here started modding their Highland for performance yet? What specific accessories or brands would you recommend to really wake up the handling and braking performance?
Unfortunately, Unplugged Performance Dual Rate Lowering Springs were way too stiff for the Highland... ngl, basically just get Mountain Pass Performance Page Mill Stainless Steel Brake Lines if you dont want to lose comfort? idk.
Seconding the recommendation above. Ngl, those Mountain Pass Performance Page Mill Stainless Steel Brake Lines are the best way to fix that mushy pedal feel for like $175 without messing with the ride quality. I've tried many setups over the years, and honestly, the Highland's FSD dampers are tricky... if you want more 'athletic' feel on a budget, look at the Mountain Pass Performance Solid Rear Sway Bar. It’s around $300 and basically kills that floaty body roll in corners without ruining the comfort you're loving. For the bite you want, skip the expensive big brake kits and just grab some EBC Yellowstuff Brake Pads. They're usually under $200 and offer way better initial grab than stock. It's probably the best way to wake up the car without spending thousands on forged wheels or risking stiff springs that make ur teeth rattle. good luck!
> I’m looking to sharpen the driving dynamics a bit without completely ruining that improved comfort. Quick question - whats ur budget? IIRC forged wheels help unsprung weight but they're highkey expensive. Idk if u wanna spend that much, tho I'm satisfied with stock wheels.
Curious about one thing: how hard are you driving? after years, i've seen geometry reallyyy affect safety sensors... basically dont wanna suggest Eibach Pro-Kit Lowering Springs without knowing your warranty concerns.
