I’m absolutely loving my new Cadillac Optiq, but the stock wireless charging pad is a bit of a letdown. It seems to charge my iPhone 15 Pro Max incredibly slowly, and it often cuts out or makes my phone overheat on longer commutes. I’m looking for a more reliable upgrade that fits cleanly in the center console area without looking like a mess of wires. Ideally, I’d love something that supports 15W fast charging or has better heat dissipation to keep things cool. Has anyone found a specific aftermarket pad or a custom-fit solution that works well with the Optiq’s interior? I'd really appreciate any recommendations for a pad that actually stays connected!

Take a look at this:

^ This. Also, been thinking about your setup and in my experience, the DIY route is usually more reliable than those expensive custom-fit shells. I've tried many different pads over the years, and the factory stuff just doesnt cut it for power-hungry phones.

  • Pick up a Spigen ArcField 15W Wireless Charger since it has decent heat management.
  • Get some thin 3M adhesive to keep it from sliding.
  • Plug it into a high-speed adapter like the Anker 523 Car Charger 47W. Honestly, I remember trying to hardwire a radar detector into my 98 Seville and I ended up blowing a fuse that killed the power seats for a month. Spent way too much time in the garage that summer just sweating and swearing at the wiring harness... I kinda miss those simpler days when you could actually see the ground through the engine bay, lol. Now everything is just batteries and sensors. Anyway, but yeah, the Spigen pad should keep your iPhone 15 from acting up.

I feel u, the stock pads in these newer EVs are literally trash lol. For your situation, I would suggest looking at the MagSafe Wireless Charger 15W with Active Cooling. Honestly, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is picky with heat, so you basically need something with a fan. I tried a generic pad first and it was a mess, but a custom-fit MagSafe mount makes it stay connected highkey better. GL!

Basically, high-voltage EVs like the Optiq generate a ton of heat already, and those cheap stock pads lack proper airflow. Honestly, it makes me so nervous because overheating literally kills your battery health long-term... i mean, nobody wants a spicy pillow in their center console right? I would suggest going with a budget-friendly but SAFE setup. For your situation, I've seen folks use the Anker 313 Wireless Charger 15W Pad which is usually around $15-20. It's super thin, so you can just tuck it right on top of the factory rubber mat. Plus, Anker has decent safety sensors to prevent over-charging. But yeah, make sure to pair it with a flat-profile Baseus 100W Right Angle USB-C Cable to keep the wiring looking clean and factory-spec. Just be careful with the placement so it doesnt slide around during turns!!

Saw this thread earlier and figured id weigh in since ive been through three different Cadillacs in the last decade. Honestly, the internal cooling on these stock pads just isnt designed for the glass backs of the newer iPhones. I had the same issue with my Lyriq before the Optiq. I tried the cheaper generic pads first but they felt a bit flimsy for the luxury interior. I eventually swapped to the Belkin BoostCharge Pro 15W MagSafe Wireless Charger and just tucked the cable along the trim. It delivers the full 15W consistently without the thermal throttling I saw on the Spigen ArcField Magnetic Wireless Charger. The Belkin seems to handle the heat dissipation much better than the Spigen in my experience, even though the Spigen is a bit more compact. Its a bit pricier but worth it to keep the battery health from tanking during summer drives. If you want it to look factory, you gotta spend a few minutes on the cable routing...
