Which charging accessories are essential for a new Chevrolet Blazer EV?

I’m taking delivery of my Blazer EV next week and want to be fully prepared! I'm curious if I should stick with the dual-level cord or invest in a dedicated Level 2 home station. Also, are there specific NEMA adapters or public charging apps you’d recommend for road trips? What are the absolute must-haves for a new owner?

Just sharing my experience: I went through this last year when I first brought my EV home. Honestly, I started out super optimistic about using the included cord, but I had a pretty scary situation where the outlet got *insanely* hot because the wiring in my garage wasn't actually up to the task of sustained heavy loads. Safety-first is basically my mantra now.

I ended up looking into a few dedicated options because I didn't want to risk a fire. I compared the ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 WiFi Enabled EV Charger against a more basic Grizzl-E Classic Level 2 EV Charger 40 Amp. The ChargePoint is awesome because you can schedule charging for when rates are low, but the Grizzl-E is built like a literal tank—it's heavy-duty and great if your garage isn't climate controlled.

I reallyyy recommend having a certified electrician install a dedicated circuit regardless of what you choose. I also grabbed a Lectron Tesla to J1772 Charging Adapter 48 Amp just in case I'm stuck at a hotel that only has destination chargers. It's saved my skin twice already! Seriously, don't skimp on the safety side of things... it's just not worth the anxiety. Good luck with the new Blazer, you're gonna love it tho! 👍

Just sharing my experience: I went through this exact same internal debate when I picked up my EV. Honestly, I started with the Chevrolet Dual Level Charge Cord thinking it'd be enough, but after a week of juggling it, I realized I needed something more permanent. I ended up comparing a few setups and found that a dedicated Wallbox Pulsar Plus 48 Amp Level 2 EV Smart Charger is just way more convenient than the mobile cord. It's basically the difference between a temporary fix and a seamless routine.

Here's how I broke it down back then:
* **Hardwired Station:** Faster charging (up to 11.5kW on the Blazer) and much better thermal management for daily use.
* **Dual Level Cord:** Good for 7.7kW max, but the NEMA 14-50 plug can get pretty hot if you're charging from 0-100% regularly.

Also, for road trips, I highkey recommend grabbing a Tesla Supercharger to J1772 Adapter just in case, though the built-in Google Maps is actually decent at routing to DC fast chargers. Anyway, congrats on the new ride, ur gonna love it!

Ok so, I was in that same spot last month! I tried sticking with the cord it came with, but it got old fast. My current setup is a dedicated wall station and it basically makes a huge difference. Tbh, if you drive a lot, the dual cord might not cut it. Also, definitely download a few charging apps before your first trip!

TL;DR: The included cord works, but a dedicated home station is way faster for daily use.

Seconding the recommendation above! Honestly, over the years I've seen so many people try to save a buck by using the included cord, but it's just not efficient for long-term battery health or your sanity. Since you mentioned cost-consciousness, I'd suggest looking at the Emporia Level 2 EV Charger 48 Amp. It's usually way cheaper than the big-name brands but the build quality is solid and the app is actually useful for tracking utility costs.

Also, skip the expensive branded adapters. I've been using the Lectron NEMA 14-50 to 6-20R Adapter for years when I'm visiting friends with older dryer outlets. For road trips, definitely download the PlugShare App and A Better Routeplanner ABRP. They're basically mandatory if you want to find the reliable chargers that actually work, right? GL with the new Blazer!
