Honestly I am getting so fed up with my Z06 cooling issues lately. I took it out last weekend and the temps just spiked way too fast and it's like I can't even get three solid laps in before the car pulls power. It's driving me crazy because I spent a fortune on this thing and I am supposed to be at Willow Springs next month. I am legit worried I am gonna spend the whole time sitting in the pits instead of driving.

I have about 5k set aside to fix this mess before the trip. What are the best performance accessories for a Chevy Corvette Z06 to actually keep it running hard?

  • cooling kits
  • better brake pads
  • maybe a new intake

What should I prioritize so I don't waste my money...

Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that throwing money at random parts wont fix the Z06 heat issues. I had issues with some cheaper radiator setups that were just not as good as expected. If youre heading to Willow, you gotta focus on the stuff that keeps the car from pulling timing or youll be miserable.

  • LG Motorsports C7 Z06 Supercharger Expansion Tank: This is way better than the smaller plastic tanks. The pro is it adds a ton of coolant volume to stop heat soak, but it is a tight fit in the engine bay.
  • G-LOC R18 Track Brake Pads: These are not as good as expected for daily driving because they squeal like crazy, but on track they are bulletproof compared to the stock pads which fade way too fast.
  • Granatelli Motor Sports High Flow Heat Exchanger Pump: Much better flow than the factory unit. It is pricey, but the stock pump is honestly a joke for heavy track use. Stick to reliability first... dont waste money on an intake when your engine is already overheating.

Man, the C7 Z06 cooling struggle is basically a rite of passage at this point. I would suggest you be really careful about chasing power right now since your main enemy is thermal mass and heat soak. If you have 5k, skip the intake entirely because it wont help those temps one bit. Honestly, you might want to consider going straight for a heavy-duty cooling setup if you want to survive Willow Springs. I would definitely prioritize these specific parts:

  • LG Motorsports Super Cool Track Cooling Kit
  • DeWitts C7 Corvette Z06 70mm High Performance Radiator
  • Ferodo Racing DS1.11 Track Brake Pads The DeWitts C7 Corvette Z06 70mm High Performance Radiator is significantly thicker than the OEM unit which helps with recovery times. That LG kit is a bit of a job to install but it adds dedicated auxiliary coolers to move the load off the main stack and actually lets the LT4 breathe. Just make sure to watch your oil temps too...

@Reply #1 - good point! I remember feeling totally stressed about those dash temps until I finally addressed the supercharger loop. Im really satisfied now that the car actually behaves. Works well and I have zero complaints lately.

> What should I prioritize so I don't waste my money... Building on the earlier suggestion, focus on reliability. It saves cash. My buddy spent his track fund on a boat that just sat in his yard... its such a waste. Anyway lol.
