I just picked up my 2024 Pacifica PHEV yesterday and honestly I am so overwhelmed with everything. Like I didnt even know what a Level 2 charger was until the guy at the dealership mentioned it and now I'm worried I'm missing a bunch of stuff I actually need. This is my first ever hybrid or electric car and my first minivan too so its a lot of firsts all at once. We are based in Seattle and it is already starting to get really muddy and rainy here so keeping the interior nice for more than a week feels like an impossible task especially with a 3 year old and a 6 year old who basically live to spill juice boxes and track in dirt.

I have about $700 or $800 left in my car fund to spend on whatever accessories are considered essential but I have no clue where to start or what brands are actually good vs just cheap junk on some random website. Sorry if these are really basic questions but I just want to make sure the car lasts and I dont mess anything up with the battery part of it.

Here is what I think I might need but please tell me if I am wrong or if there are better ideas:

  • Something heavy duty to protect the floors from all the mud and crushed goldfish crackers
  • Do I need a special cable or something for home charging or is the one it came with okay for now because the garage outlet looks like a normal one
  • Is there a way to organize the huge gap between the front seats? It feels like stuff just rolls around there whenever I turn a corner
  • Screen protectors? I saw some online but I dont know if they actually fit the big dashboard screen
  • Something to protect the back of the seats from little kids feet kicking them constantly

I really want to keep this van in good shape because it cost us a fortune and I want it to be our main family car for the next ten years at least. If you guys have any must haves that made your life easier with the hybrid battery or just the minivan life in general please let me know because I am kind of lost...

I actually went through the charging dilemma last year! For that 16kWh battery, the ChargePoint Home Flex EV Charger 16A-50A is amazing. It drops charge time from 14 hours to about 2.5! Also, the Spigen Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Chrysler Pacifica 10.1 inch is fantastic. It fits the Uconnect 5 screen perfectly and keeps it looking brand new. Youll definitely want those for long-term protection!

Building on the earlier suggestion about the charger, I'd say you should be pretty cautious with the home electrical setup. Seattle weather is no joke, so you might want to consider these points for long-term reliability:

  • Verify your garage outlet is a high-quality, commercial-grade receptacle. Standard outlets can struggle with the continuous heat from charging for like 12 hours straight.
  • To manage that awkward gap between the front seats, the Vesul Center Console Organizer Tray for Chrysler Pacifica is a solid fix that stops stuff from sliding.
  • I would also suggest a Lectron EV Charger Nozzle Holster and Cable Hook to keep your connector out of the puddles and mud... Just be careful to avoid using standard extension cords with your charger tho, as they are a major fire risk. Safety has to be the priority given the battery cost... dont want to fry anything.

TL;DR: Purchase WeatherTech FloorLiner 1st 2nd 3rd Row Chrysler Pacifica. Over the years, these have proven essential for Seattle rain and protecting your carpet from spills and mud.

Just catching up on this thread and honestly, congrats on the new van! We've had our Pacifica for a year now and the van life is real. Like someone mentioned earlier, floor mats are priority number one, but dont overlook the backs of your seats. With a 3 and 6 year old, those seat backs are gonna get destroyed by muddy boots in no time. A few practical things I've found useful:

  • For the seat backs, grab some Lusso Gear Car Back Seat Protector Heavy Duty 2-Pack. They are super easy to wipe down and save you from scrubbing scuff marks every weekend.
  • For that weird gap between the front seats, I actually found that a dedicated trash bin works best. Something like the High Road StashAway Car Trash Can with Lid fits perfectly there and stops stuff from sliding into the footwell when you hit the brakes.
  • Regarding the charging... your standard garage outlet is totally fine for the Chrysler OEM Level 1 Charging Cable that came with the car. It just takes forever. If you are only driving 20 miles a day and can plug in for 12 plus hours every night, you might not even need to spend the money on a Level 2 setup yet. See how your first month goes before dropping the cash.
  • Tbh, you should also look into a cargo liner for the trunk area. Strollers and groceries will wreck that carpet too. The Husky Liners Weatherbeater Cargo Liner for Chrysler Pacifica is a solid option for the rear that is usually a bit cheaper than the big name brands. Check out the PacificaForums site too if you want to geek out on the battery stuff, lots of helpful folks over there for technical questions.
