I’m incredibly hyped about getting the Genesis GV60 Magma soon, but I want to make sure my garage is fully prepped for this performance beast. Since it supports that ultra-fast 800V architecture, I’m wondering which home Level 2 chargers actually play nice with its tech and if I should invest in a high-quality NACS adapter for future-proofing. Also, for those long road trips, are there specific portable cables or protective port covers you guys recommend to keep everything pristine? I really want to maximize charging speeds without compromising battery health. What specific charging gear or cable management tools do you consider absolute essentials for the Magma?
yo, congrats on the Magma!! That thing is gonna be a total beast. honestly, dont overspend on the home setup just cuz of the fancy 800V architecture... your car handles the heavy lifting anyway. over the years, I've tried many setups and found you dont need to drop $1k on a charger to get the best speeds. here is what I recommend for a budget-friendly setup: - Emporia Level 2 EV Charger - Honestly the best value out there. It’s usually around $399 and handles 48 amps like a champ. - Lectron Tesla to J1772 48A 250V Charging Adapter - I use this for non-supercharger Tesla stalls. It’s about $140 and basically essential for road trips. - Megeche EV Charger Plug Cover - Keeps the port pristine for under $20. I guess the main thing is just making sure your home wiring can handle the 48A draw. gl! peace
> I’m wondering which home Level 2 chargers actually play nice with its tech and if I should invest in a high-quality NACS adapter for future-proofing. Here's what I recommend: I've spent way too much time testing these lol. For the Magma, you really want a hardwired 48A circuit to maximize that 11kW onboard charger. Basically, it’s ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 EV Charger vs Wallbox Pulsar Plus Level 2 EV Charger. The ChargePoint is technically superior for heat dissipation during long charging sessions, but the Wallbox has better app integration for scheduling. For future-proofing, dont just get any cheap adapter. I'd go with the A2Z Stellar NACS to CCS1 Adapter. It’s rated for 250kW+, so it wont be a bottleneck at Superchargers. Also, definitely get a WeatherTech EV Charging Port Weather Shield. I've seen too many ports get gunked up with road salt during road trips... it keeps everything pristine just like you wanted. Cheers!
Honestly, safety is everything with that Magma beast. I'd go with the Tesla Universal Wall Connector because it's basically the most reliable for high-amp home charging. For road trips, the A2Z Stellar NACS to CCS1 Adapter is super high-quality and won't overheat ur port. Also, grab an EVoCharge Cable Retractor to keep cables off the floor... tripping is a real hazard tho! TL;DR: Tesla Universal Wall Connector for home safety and A2Z Stellar NACS to CCS1 Adapter for the road.
I would suggest being reallyyy careful. I almost fried a port once cuz of bad wiring... so definitely get a pro! For chargers: * Grizzl-E Classic Level 2 EV Charger 40 Amp: Super rugged and cheap, but lacks an app.
* Autel MaxiCharge Home Level 2 EV Charger 50 Amp: Great safety monitoring, tho it costs more. Prioritize safety over speed for that 800V beast. Good luck!!
Solid advice 👍
