I recently joined the Ridgeline family with a 2023 RTL-E, and while I love the in-bed trunk, I’m finding the actual bed space a bit challenging to organize for my weekend camping trips. Everything seems to slide around back there! I’m curious if anyone has found a bed extender that works well without blocking the dual-action tailgate functionality? I'm also looking for recommendations on high-quality bed mats or a specific divider system for the trunk to keep my smaller gear from rattling. My budget is around $600 for a few solid upgrades. What are your go-to accessories for maximizing cargo storage and keeping things secure in your Ridgeline?
> "For your situation, I've spent weeks analyzing specs... honestly, you gotta go OEM for that budget." Respectfully, I'd consider another option because ur budget can go WAY further if you look past the dealership. I love the Ridgeline, but honestly, the OEM extender is kinda clunky and blocks that sweet dual-action tailgate movement way more than it should... it’s just not as technical as it could be! Actually, I'd skip the Honda-branded stuff and grab the AMP Research BedXTender HD Sport (Black) instead. It’s super lightweight aluminum and lets you flip it inside to keep gear from sliding, or out for extra length. Plus, it pops out in seconds!! For the sliding issue, definitely get the Rough Country 3/8-inch Heavy Duty Bed Mat for 2017-2024 Honda Ridgeline. It’s basically the same high-friction rubber but way cheaper at around $100. For the trunk, I found that Husky 12-Gallon Professional Duty Storage Totes fit perfectly side-by-side. Way more versatile than the dividers because you can just lift the whole bin out! You’ll save like $300 this way tho. gl!
Quick question—what’s the heaviest stuff you’re packing? Safety is huge for me, and over the years I’ve compared Bull Ring 4001-XT Tie Down Anchors vs the WeatherTech CargoTech Containment System. Anchors are way safer for heavy gear that might shift, while those blocks are better for loose bags. It’s basically high-security vs quick convenience, right? Safety first!
For your situation, I've spent weeks analyzing specs... honestly, you gotta go OEM for that budget. * Honda OEM Bed Mat - High-friction rubber stops *everything* from sliding!
* Honda Trunk Divider System - Snaps right into the trunk wells, you know?
* Honda Bed Extender - Black - Mounts to existing points so the dual-action tailgate works flawlessly. Seriously, these 3 upgrades are basically the ultimate Ridgeline starter pack. GL!
Stumbled on this thread and gotta say, I went the total DIY route because I couldn't justify the markup on some of those molded systems. Tbh, the Ridgeline bed is basically DESIGNED for a self-service setup if you look at the molded-in slots. I took a high-grade 2x6 piece of dimensional lumber, measured the cross-section of the bed walls, and cut my own divider. I hit it with some textured bed liner spray to keep it weather-resistant, and it works perfectly for sectioning off the back area for my propane tanks and coolers. It stays put way better than a friction-fit divider because it’s locked into the actual geometry of the bed. Total cost was maybe $20? I also ended up grabbing a Gladiator Cargo Net for the top-side stuff. If you’re even a little bit handy, doing it yourself is SO much more satisfying and leaves you with almost your entire $600 budget for better tires or a decent 12v fridge. Just make sure you check the slot tolerances before you commit to the cut... I learned that the hard way on my first try!
Ok adding this to my list of things to try. Thanks for the tip!
