Ive been driving high-performance SUVs for a while now, mostly coming from an X5M background, and I finally made the jump to a 2022 F-PACE SVR a few months back. That 5.0L V8 sounds absolutely mental, but I'm starting to notice a few things now that the honeymoon phase is over. I live out in a rural part of Colorado where the roads are winding and the altitude really messes with things. I've been hitting some canyon runs lately and the brake fade is real, plus I am feeling a bit more body roll than I expected for something with this much power. I thought the SVR setup would be stiffer out of the box but it feels a bit floaty when I am really pushing it into the hairpins.

I have got about 7 grand set aside for some upgrades over the next month before a big road trip through the Rockies. I'm already looking at maybe a VelocityAP tune and some lowering springs but I am worried about ruining the ride quality for my daily commute. I also need to figure out a better cooling solution because the heat soak after three or four pulls is definitely clipping my wings.

  • What are the absolute must-have performance bits for this platform?
  • Anyone have experience with specific brake pad compounds that dont squeal like a bus but can actually handle high heat?
  • Are there any intake kits that actually add power or are they all just for more supercharger whine?

Just trying to find what actually makes a difference versus what is just expensive eye candy for the engine bay...

Late to the party but I had to chime in on this. Regarding what #1 said about "dont waste money on generic intakes that just..." - they are totally right. Most intakes just suck in hot engine bay air anyway. For that brake fade youre seeing in the canyons, be careful about going to a full track pad. They scream. I might want to consider Porterfield R4-S High Performance Street and Autocross Brake Pads because they handle the heat way better than stock without the bus squeal. For the heat soak, I would suggest the VelocityAP F-Pace SVR Charge Cooler High Flow Radiator since Colorado altitude and thin air makes the supercharger work overtime. Its a bit of an install but honestly necessary before you go chasing more power with a tune. Just watch the ride height... if you go too low with basic springs it might get bouncy on those rough rural roads.

  • dont waste money on generic intakes that just add noise
  • skip basic lowering springs because theyll ruin the factory shocks
  • fix the cooling before adding power to avoid heat soak

^ This. Also, i have been totally obsessed with my SVR lately and it is such an amazing machine! If you are really worried about the intake being just eye candy, you honestly just need to go on YouTube. There is this one channel that did a massive deep dive on supercharger whine versus actual horsepower gains for our platform. Just search for f-pace svr intake comparison dyno and it should be one of the top results. It is seriously so helpful to see the actual numbers before you drop a couple grand on carbon fiber bits that might not do anything tho! For the suspension and that floaty feeling you are getting in the hairpins, you should definitely just spend some time on the Jag enthusiast forums or even the SVR subreddits. There are some incredible threads where guys have tested different setups specifically for mountain driving and high altitudes like what you have in Colorado. Just search for svr suspension real world review and you will see exactly what I mean. I found a huge breakdown there last week that basically answered every question i had about ride quality vs performance. Same goes for the cooling stuff... the big manufacturers usually have technical white papers on their sites that show the actual temp drops. It is way better to look at their data directly so you know exactly what you are paying for! Youve got a solid budget so just doing that bit of research wont leave you with buyers remorse. Love the car tho, it is such a beast... literally mental power!
