Hey everyone! I recently took delivery of a new Jaguar F-TYPE R-75, and I’m absolutely in love with the 575hp supercharged V8. Since this is the final run of the combustion F-TYPE, I really want to make mine stand out and sharpen up the performance just a little bit more. It’s a fantastic daily, but I feel like there’s some untapped potential hiding in that AWD setup.
I’ve been looking into a few specific upgrades, particularly a smaller supercharger pulley kit to help with the low-end torque and maybe some high-flow air filters to let the engine breathe better. I'm also considering a secondary cat-delete to really emphasize that iconic exhaust note without causing any drone in the cabin during highway cruises. I've also heard mixed things about lowering springs—I’d love a more aggressive stance, but I don’t want to ruin the adaptive dynamics or the ride quality on rougher roads.
For those of you who have spent time tuning or tracking the R-75 (or the standard R), what performance accessories do you consider absolute 'must-haves' for better throttle response and handling? Are there specific brands you’d recommend that play nice with the factory warranty?
In my experience, compare the VAP VelocityAP 1.5lb Upper Supercharger Pulley Kit for raw power vs BMC High Flow Replacement Air Filters for a cheap, safe boost. For handling, VAP VelocityAP Jaguar F-Type Lowering Springs are the best choice cuz they wont ruin your adaptive dynamics like cheaper brands. Best value is definitely the pulley and tune combo for that insane torque tho. gl!
Ok so I actually went through this exact same internal debate last year with my own F-Type. Ngl, while everyone jumps straight for the pulley kits, I was super worried about heat soak and messing with the warranty on such an expensive final-run car. I ended up looking at it from more of a safety-first and budget perspective. Instead of dropping $2k on a full exhaust, I just did a custom secondary cat-delete for like $300 at a local exhaust shop. Seriously, it sounds basically identical to the branded pipes without the crazy markups. For handling, I compared lowering springs vs just upgrading the rubber. I went with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 295/30ZR20 tires and the grip is night and day compared to the stock Pirellis. It feels way safer in the corners and dont mess with the suspension geometry like some cheap springs might. Also, swapping the dusty factory pads for EBC Brakes Yellowstuff Brake Pads (around $270) gave me way better pedal feel and stopping power without the cost of a big brake kit. It just felt like a more balanced way to spend my cash, anyway gl!!
Just catching up on this thread and I totally agree with the point about going the custom route for the exhaust to save some cash. Since you mentioned wanting to sharpen the handling without ruinous costs, I’ve been looking at some DIY-friendly ways to improve the feel vs. taking it to a professional shop. I'm still a bit of a beginner with the F-Type platform, but I love digging into the technical side of the install. Here’s a couple of things I’ve been comparing for a home-garage approach: * H&R Trak+ Wheel Spacers (15mm): This is a solid DIY project if you have a good jack and a torque wrench (I think the spec is around 92 ft-lb?). Pros: It fills out the arches perfectly without needing to mess with the springs. Cons: Might slightly increase the scrub radius, though I'm not 100% sure if that's noticeable on the AWD.
* Motive Products European Power Pressure Bleeder: If you want better pedal response, doing a high-temp fluid flush yourself is huge. Pros: Much cheaper than a shop and you know it’s done right. Cons: It can be a bit messy if the seal isn't perfect and you definitely don't want air in the ABS module. Ngl, I'm still learning the ropes, but do you think the spacers would mess with the adaptive suspension sensors at all? Tbh I’m a bit nervous about throwing off the factory calibration.
> I feel like there’s some untapped potential hiding in that AWD setup. Just sharing my experience: I went through this last year with an SVR. It’s basically the same hardware as your R-75, and tbh, the software side is where the real potential is hiding. I compared the VelocityAP Jaguar F-Type 5.0L SC V8 ECU Tune vs the VelocityAP Jaguar F-Type ZF8 Transmission Tune. The ECU tune is killer for raw torque (huge gains!), but it carries more warranty risk. The TCU tune, though, really sharpened the AWD response and shift speed by removing torque limiters in lower gears. It made the car feel much lighter on its feet. Also, I looked at the Eventuri Jaguar F-Type V8 Carbon Fiber Intake System versus just high-flow filters. The Eventuri is way more technical—it actually lowers intake air temperatures (IATs) significantly, whereas filters just increase flow. I’m very satisfied with the results... it feels so much more aggressive now!! Anyway, definitely don't skip the transmission software if you want better response!! Cheers.
Great info, saved!
