Hey guys, need coolant advice for my 2019 C300. Just hit 60,000 miles. What's the best type to use for a flush and refill?
For your 2019 C300's coolant flush, you'll need a coolant that meets Mercedes-Benz specification MB 325.6. This is typically a pink G40-type Si-OAT(Silicate Organic Additive Technology) coolant. Brands like Zerex G40 are often recommended and meet this spec. Always check your owner's manual first for the definitive recommendation. If using concentrate, dilute with distilled water.
@Reply #9 - good point! saw this earlier and had to jump in because there is so much confusion about these specs now. unfortunately a lot of people still suggest the old blue G48 for every C-Class, but that is not as good as expected for the newer seals in a 2019 model. it kinda sucks that Mercedes changed it mid-generation because it makes buying the right stuff a total pain. if you want to keep the budget tight without sacrificing quality, here is what i have seen work:
Huh interesting. I had no idea. The more you know I guess 🤷
Zerex G48. Sadly, my '17 ate the pink stuff. Zero issues since switching; worth the extra few bucks.
Zerex G48 is Mercedes-approved. Consider distilled water for mixing; prevents corrosion over time.
Don't overthink it! Zerex G48 is good stuff and often cheaper than dealer coolant. Just make sure it's G48 spec. I got mine for about $25 a gallon and it works great.
Safety first! Use ONLY Mercedes-Benz coolant, folks! It's pricey (~$30/gallon), but mixing aftermarket stuff can corrode your engine long-term. Trust me, you'll save money in the end!
Hey! Being in Arizona, I'd avoid anything with silicates β had issues with buildup, unfortunately. Zerex G48 is *okay*, but I've found Pentosin Pentofrost A4 (about $25/gallon) handles the desert heat better in my '17 C300. Flush thoroughly before switching; silicate residue messes things up.
Hey! For your C300, MB 325.0 spec coolant is key. Be careful mixing types! Prestone's European formula meets this. Market research shows good user reviews and it's widely available. I'd suggest a professional flush; it's safer. Make sure they pressure test afterward. Around $20/gallon. Good luck!
Hey! Coolant flush, awesome! DIY'ing it? I've done mine (not a C300, but still!). Prestone's good stuff, easy to find. Just be SUPER careful with disposal β it's nasty stuff! Maybe watch a few YouTube vids first? Good luck, you got this!
Hey! I've had my Benz a bit longer. I've honestly been happy with the Zerex G48 coolant β no complaints after 4 years. Dealer stuff is pricey! Just make sure it's mixed 50/50 with distilled water. Seems to work well for me. Did you check your manual for the exact spec?
