I finally joined the club and picked up a Power Wagon! It’s incredible stock, but I’m ready to start prepping it for some more serious technical trails and overlanding. I’m specifically looking at jumping up to 35s or 37s, but I’m curious if I’ll need a leveling kit to avoid rubbing on the Articulink setup. Also, has anyone found rock sliders that actually hold up to the weight of this beast? I want to keep the factory winch and lockers functional, so I’m being careful about what I swap out. What are the top three mods you’d recommend to really dial this truck in for the rocks?
Curious about one thing: what's ur actual budget?? 37s look sick but the costs add up fast! If ur looking for value, I'd suggest the AEV 2 Inch Spacer Lift instead of full springs. For sliders, check out Rocky Road Outfitters Ram 2500 Rock Sliders... super beefy but affordable!
TL;DR: Stick with 35s like BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 35x12.50R17 and use AEV spacers to save serious money.
Ok so I saw this earlier... honestly, I've had a bit of a love-hate relationship with modding my PW. I jumped straight to 37s and unfortunately, it wasn't as smooth as I'd hoped. Even with a level, you're gonna rub the Articulink arms at full lock cuz of the high factory offset. I tried a budget level at first—huge mistake, ride felt like garbage. If you want it done right, the Carli Suspension Commuter 2.0 System for Ram 2500 is the way to go, but man it hits the wallet hard.
For tires, I'm running Nitto Ridge Grappler 37x12.50R17 and they're decent, but honestly the power loss was noticeable without re-gearing. Kinda sucks. For sliders, check out Maple Leaf Offroad Heavy Duty Rock Sliders. I had issues with thinner "nerf" style bars bending under the weight, which is literally terrifying lol. Basically, if you go 37s, plan for high-clearance control arms too or the rubbing will drive you nuts!! gl man.
Here's what I recommend: compare 35s vs 37s carefully. 37s look sick but rub on Articulink unless you add Thuren Fabrication 1.5 Inch Leveling Springs. For sliders, White Knuckle Off Road Bolt-on Rock Sliders are the only ones beefy enough for this beast. Best choice for me was 35s plus the sliders—keeps the lockers and winch safe without overstressing the steering. tbh it works reallyyy well!! gl
