So I finally got my R1S Dual-Motor delivered last week and honestly the car is incredible like the speed and the way it handles is just insane I'm so hyped to finally have it in my driveway here in Seattle but man I am already so frustrated with these factory mats they are absolute garbage for real. We took it out for a quick hike over the weekend and just a little bit of mud from my boots and the kids shoes and the carpets are already looking trashed plus the mats dont even stay in place they keep sliding around near the pedals which is actually kinda dangerous if you think about it.
I spent nearly 90k on this beast and I cant believe the interior protection is this flimsy so I need to swap them out like yesterday before my golden retriever ruins the third row too. I've been looking at WeatherTech but I heard they might not fit the new dual-motor floor layout perfectly or something? Or maybe TuxMat? I really want something that covers every single inch of the floor and can handle the PNW rain and mud without looking like a cheap plastic tub. Budget isnt really a huge deal if they actually work but I need them delivered before our road trip next month. What are you guys actually using that fits tight and doesnt look ugly? I'm honestly fed up with how much dirt these hold...
> they keep sliding around near the pedals which is actually kinda dangerous That sliding issue is a serious safety red flag. Over the years I've seen too many close calls with loose liners. Before you drop big money, are you looking to cover the cargo area too for the dog? LinerX All-Weather Floor Mats for Rivian R1S are way more budget-friendly than TuxMat while still offering that custom-molded fit that wont budge.
Building on the earlier suggestion, I have had a pretty rough time finding something that actually stays put. Honestly, its disappointing that we have to deal with this on such a high-end EV. I tried some cheaper liners first but the fit was honestly dangerous... they kept catching on the accelerator which is a total nightmare in Seattle traffic. Ended up tossing them out of frustration. I finally switched to the 3D MAXpider Kagu All-Weather Floor Mats for Rivian R1S and they are way better for the PNW mess. They have this velcro-like backing that actually grips the carpet so they wont budge an inch. They are usually around $220 for the front and second rows. I also grabbed the LinerX Rivian R1S Cargo Liner for the back because my dog also tracks in half the forest. Just make sure you get the ones specifically for the dual-motor layout because the floor pan is slightly different... unfortunately found that out the hard way with my first return.
I analyzed the floor pan geometry of the dual-motor. The clearance near the seat tracks is way tighter than I'd expected. My current setup uses a three-layer composite. It provides decent thermal insulation while maintaining a high friction coefficient. I basically learned that laser-scanned liners are essential. Accuracy matters. Even a small deviation causes sliding near the pedals. It works well for my daily commute.
Jumping in here because I am honestly dealing with the exact same thing right now and it is driving me nuts. I spent months saving up for the down payment and now every time my kids jump in with their muddy soccer cleats I basically have a mini heart attack. You might want to be careful with those factory mats tho, I had a close call pulling into my driveway where the edge of the mat got caught under the pedal and I had to yank it back mid-turn. It is super sketchy for a vehicle this powerful. I would suggest keeping a towel in the car just to throw over them for now, but even that slides around. Speaking of things sliding around, did you take yours up towards Snoqualmie yet? I tried going up there last weekend just to see how it handled the incline, but I ended up getting completely distracted by this massive elk standing right by the side of the road. I pulled over to take a picture and totally forgot I had a box of expensive donuts sitting on the floor in the back. When I took off again, the box flipped over and now there is pink frosting stuck in the carpet fibers. It is so annoying because I was trying to be all outdoorsy but I just ended up with a sticky mess and a blurry photo of an elks butt. I really need to find a better way to clean the interior without ruining the material because everything feels so delicate even tho it looks rugged. Anyway lol, sorry for the rant, I just realized I didnt even mention the mats anymore.
