Hey everyone! I just took delivery of my Model Y, and I’m already starting to worry about the trunk carpet. I do a lot of weekend hiking and often toss muddy boots and wet gear in the back, so the standard lining definitely won't cut it for long. I’ve been looking at a few "heavy duty" options like Tesmanian, WeatherTech, and the official Tesla ones, but I’m torn on which one actually holds up best under real-world pressure.

I’m specifically looking for something with high edges to catch spills and a material that provides enough grip so my gear isn't sliding around on every turn. A major concern for me is the fit—I’ve seen some liners that warp in the heat or leave weird gaps on the sides. Also, it’s really important that the liner doesn't make it a total pain to access the sub-trunk, as I use that storage space daily for my charging cables and tools. Does anyone have experience with a brand that handles heavy wear, like sharp camping equipment or even dog claws, without showing deep scuffs immediately?

What has been your experience with long-term durability, and which specific heavy-duty liner would you recommend for someone who actually puts their trunk through its paces?

I went through this last year. Honestly, I had a pretty disappointing run with high-end mats that just didn't fit right. I ended up trying the 3D MAXpider KAGU Series All-Weather Custom Fit Cargo Liner for Tesla Model Y and it's been a game-changer for my budget. It's way more affordable than some big names, it's super grippy so my gear doesn't slide, and it actually folds easily to access the sub-trunk. Anyway, back to your question—it's held up great against my dog's claws!

Similar situation here—I went through this exact struggle last year when I got my Model Y. Honestly, I’m a bit of a cheapskate, so I initially went with the official Tesla Model Y All-Weather Rear Trunk Liner because I figured the OEM fit would be perfect. Unfortunately, it was not as good as expected for the price. While the fit was okay, I found it way too slippery; my grocery bags and hiking gear were flying everywhere.

I ended up returning it and looking for something more budget-friendly that actually works. I spent weeks scouring Amazon and forums for a deal. I eventually landed on the LDCRS Tesla Model Y Trunk Mat with Sub-Trunk and Frunk Mats set. It was a fraction of the cost—I think I paid around $120 for the whole 3-piece kit—but the durability has been surprising. That said, I did have some issues with the edges being a bit warped out of the box. I had to let it sit in the sun for an afternoon to flatten out, which was a pain, but for the savings? Worth it to me.

One thing I noticed is that these TPE materials, while great for mud, do scuff up if you’re tossing sharp camping gear or have a dog with long claws. My sub-trunk access is decent with this one, but it's still a bit stiff. It’s definitely a trade-off between having that heavy-duty protection and having easy access to your cables. Just my two cents, but you don't always need the big brand names to get the job done! Good luck with the new ride!

Honestly, I've been through this with my own hiking gear and a very active dog! I would suggest the Tesmanian Tesla Model Y Rear Trunk Mat Cargo Liner. I've had mine for over a year and it's definitely tough. The high edges are great for catching mud, and it has a built-in fold that makes accessing the sub-trunk super easy. WeatherTech is okay, but I found WeatherTech Cargo Liner for Tesla Model Y to be a bit too slippery for gear. TL;DR: Tesmanian is the sweet spot for durability and sub-trunk access.
