finally got my id.4 pro s last week here in rainy seattle and that level 1 cord is not gonna cut it for my 40 mile commute. ive been looking at the grizzl-e because people say its super durable but then i see others swearing by the chargepoint home flex because of the app integration.

my local utility gives a rebate but only for certain smart chargers and im confused if i even need a smart one since the car has its own scheduling? my budget is like 500-600 dollars and i want something that wont die if it gets a bit damp in my carport. what are you guys actually using for your id4 at home?

OMG congrats on the ID.4! You are going to absolutely love driving it around Seattle! I was in the exact same boat trying to figure out the rebate vs reliability thing last month. Honestly, safety was my biggest worry since my charger stays outside and I didnt want some cheap knockoff melting my port. Heres what I looked at:

This thing is built like a literal tank. No fancy apps to fail, it just works. It handles the rain like a champ and is super safe with its internal components. Very budget friendly too!

This is what I actually bought! Its amazing because it qualifies for the utility rebates since its smart, but it costs way less than the high-end brands. The app is fantastic for tracking every penny you spend on juice.

Super premium and the cable is really flexible even when its freezing out, but it definitely pushes the top of your budget. Definitely check if your utility requires the charger to be networked for that rebate money!! If they do, the Emporia is the best bang for your buck. I feel so much better having a UL-listed unit that doesnt get hot. It makes such a huge difference over that slow level 1 cord, you are gonna be so happy to wake up with a full battery!
