I just took delivery of my new Volvo EX30 and I’m absolutely loving the minimalist interior, but I’m already worried about keeping those carpets clean. With the rainy season coming up and a fair amount of mud where I live, the standard fabric mats aren't going to cut it for long. I really want to protect the floorboards before they get ruined.
I’ve been looking at the official Volvo plastic floor mats, but they seem a bit pricey compared to aftermarket options. Has anyone tried the OEM ones? I'm curious if they provide enough coverage, especially around the footrest area and under the pedals. I’ve also checked out brands like TuxMat and WeatherTech, but since the EX30 is still relatively new, I haven’t seen many reviews on the specific fitment for this model yet. I’m looking for something that has a high lip to catch snow melt and spills, but still matches the sleek aesthetic of the cabin.
Does anyone have recommendations for all-weather mats that fit perfectly without sliding around? Also, if you’ve found a good cargo liner for the trunk that matches the set, please let me know!
Respectfully, I'd consider another option before jumping on the budget bandwagon mentioned above. Honestly, I've had some pretty bad experiences with cheap aftermarket mats in my old XC40 where they'd curl up at the edges after a few months... not only did it look cheap, but it was actually DANGEROUS because the mat would snag the corner of my shoe while I was trying to hit the brakes. When it comes to the EX30, safety has to come first, especially with how the floor pans are shaped.
I'd actually suggest a different approach—skip the generic ones and look at the TuxMat All-Weather Floor Mats for Volvo EX30. I've used them in other EVs and they're literally the gold standard for coverage. Unlike the Volvo EX30 Genuine Plastic Floor Mats, which unfortunately leave a lot of the carpet exposed near the dead pedal and under the seats, TuxMat covers almost every square inch of fabric. If you're dealing with serious mud and snow melt, the high walls are a lifesaver.
Compare that to something like the WeatherTech FloorLiner for Volvo EX30—those are durable, sure, but they can feel a bit like hard plastic and sometimes get slippery when wet. If you want that sleek aesthetic you mentioned, TuxMat has a much more premium, leather-like finish that matches the minimalist interior way better. Plus, for the trunk, definitely grab the Volvo EX30 Foldable Luggage Compartment Mat if you can find it. It's one of the few OEM accessories that's actually worth the price because it fits the sub-trunk layout perfectly. Anyway, dont skimp on the safety clips... whatever you buy, make sure they LOCK down. gl! 👍

Similar situation here - I went through this last year with my last Volvo. Honestly, I spent a ton on OEM mats and was pretty disappointed because the coverage was basically useless under the pedals. Since then, I've had way better luck looking at budget brands:
* Stick with any generic TPE rubber mats from Amazon
* Check out TuxMat if you want that high-lip protection
Basically, dont overpay for the logo cuz the dirt doesn't care lol. GL!
For your situation, I've got a bit of a mixed bag to share based on my first few weeks with the car.

Honestly, I went with the official Volvo plastic mats because I wanted that perfect aesthetic match, but they're basically just okay. Like, they look super sleek, but the lip is kinda low for heavy snow melt or deep mud. I mean, they fit perfectly and don't slide at all, but I’ve already noticed some dirt sneaking onto the carpet near the accelerator...
Not sure but I think I heard the TuxMat version is still in development?? I've used those in previous cars and they literally cover every inch of carpet. Between the OEM ones and waiting for something like WeatherTech, it really depends on your needs. If you’re highkey worried about messy boots, maybe hold out for aftermarket. But yeah, the OEM cargo liner is actually pretty decent and matches the cabin vibe well. gl!!
Quick question - you planning on off-roading or just city driving? Seriously tho, watch out for mats that don't lock down... unsecured mats sliding under the brake pedal is a MASSIVE safety risk. i've seen it happen.

So, we've basically established that OEM looks great but lacks the high-wall protection, while the cheap stuff is a safety hazard. From a performance perspective, you need to look at material density and structural rigidity. If a mat is too soft, it bunches; too hard, and it cracks in winter, you know? A couple of quick tips based on my years of testing various liners in different Volvos: - Look into 3D MAXpider KAGU Series for the EX30. They use a patented bottom layer that grips the carpet like Velcro without damaging it—zero chance of it sliding under your pedals, which is a huge concern people mentioned.

Just wanted to say thanks for everyone chiming in. Super helpful discussion.
