just got my 2023 xc90 and im so stoked! i saw weathertech mats online but heard they feel kinda cheap and plasticky, plus the oem ones dont seem to cover the dead pedal well. i need something for:
what do you guys recommend?
Like someone mentioned, coverage is vital. Are the dogs in the cargo hold or the cabin? I've found Volvo Genuine XC90 Plastic Trunk Liner provides the most reliable seal against that Seattle moisture...
Just caught this thread and i totally agree with what #3 said about the grip. I had a scary moment once where a loose mat slid forward and actually caught the edge of the gas pedal... luckily i was in a parking lot but it couldve been bad. Be careful with anything too thin because mud in Seattle basically turns into a lubricant under the mat if it leaks. For the dogs and mud combo, I would suggest:
This covers the back of the seats too, so when you fold them down for the dogs, mud doesnt get into the seat mechanisms. Honestly a lifesaver for the upholstery.
These have much better textures than the ones you saw online and they really lock in place. Make sure to pull them out and spray the underside every few months tho... grit gets trapped and can actually scratch the floor pan if you leave it too long.
Honestly, WeatherTech is too rigid for the XC90s contours. I've tried many over the years and usually recommend these:
Regarding what #1 said about rigidity, I agree. My old mats slipped and almost blocked my brakes! Now I prioritize:
