So I finally got my Maverick last month after waiting forever and it is great but the bed is honestly tiny lol. I am mostly using it for groceries and throwing my muddy hiking boots in the back after hitting the trails near Seattle but everything just slides around like crazy back there whenever I take a turn.

I did some looking online and saw everyone talking about the diy flexbed system with the 2x4 boards which is cool and cheap but i am worried about the wood rotting or just looking kinda trashy after a while. Plus I dont really have a saw to cut stuff exactly right. I also saw those swing cases from undercover but those are like over 200 bucks each and I really want to stay under 150 for the whole setup if I can before my camping trip next month. I need something that can handle the rain too since it pours here constantly.

Has anyone found a good middle ground that fits the maverick specifically without needing a ton of tools? I saw some plastic dividers on amazon but the reviews are all over the place saying they dont fit the slots right. What bed organizers are you guys actually using that dont cost a fortune?

Just catching up on this. Quick question tho—are you running a tonneau cover or is the bed totally open to the elements? If it's open, I've been really satisfied with the Rough Country Bed Storage Bags. They're waterproof and way cheaper than SwingCases. The Last Boks Maverick Bed Organizer is another solid middle ground that slides in and out easily. Both keep things dry and stay under your 150 limit.

I ditched the 2x4s after a month.

Saw this earlier but just now getting a chance to reply. I totally agree with the first guy about skipping the wood. The 2x4 thing lasted maybe a week for me before it looked like garbage in the rain. Switching to a heavy duty collapsible crate setup was a much better move for my daily routine. Basically I just leave the crates folded flat most of the time, then when I hit the grocery store I pop them open. Everything stays snug against the wheel wells now and my muddy hiking gear stays separate from the clean stuff too. No complaints at all so far and it was way cheaper than those fancy hard plastic dividers people keep posting. Honestly, I'm super satisfied because it didnt require me to buy a saw or spend a weekend in the garage... life is too short for that lol.

hey there! honestly i had the exact same freakout when i first got mine... i was so worried about stuff flying forward and smashing the back glass if i ever had to stop fast. safety first right?! especially with wet hiking boots and heavy groceries sliding around back there like hockey pucks. instead of doing the whole wood thing which honestly looks messy after it gets soaked in the rain, i went with some stuff from WeatherTech CargoTech Blocks. they are fantastic because they just grip the bed and you can move them around whenever you want. no tools needed at all which is a huge win for those of us without a garage full of saws! here is what i would suggest looking into:

  • definitely check out the organizers from Lund Truck Bed Storage. they make stuff that is super durable and handles the rain perfectly without falling apart.
  • basically just search for any of the heavy duty bins from Rubbermaid ActionPacker. they are indestructible and keep your muddy gear totally contained. i think you can easily get a solid setup for way under 150 bucks. i love how clean it looks compared to raw 2x4s and you wont have to worry about the wood warping or rotting out in that seattle weather. have a blast on your camping trip next month, the maverick is seriously such a fun little truck for getting out into the woods!
