What are the absolute essential performance accessories I need to pick up for my CT5-V Blackwing before I take it to the track? Man I am so incredibly hyped because I finally picked up my 2024 Blackwing yesterday—went with the 6-speed manual because obviously—and I already have a track day booked at Sebring for next month. I have about $3,500 set aside for immediate quality of life or performance bits but I dont want to waste money on stuff that doesnt actually do anything. I was looking at the Tapout Tuning intake because everyone says it sounds amazing but then I saw a couple threads on a different site saying the factory airbox is actually really well optimized and I might just be losing heat soak protection just for a cool noise which kinda worries me since its so hot here in Florida. Also saw people mentioning the Titanium brake shims to help with the heat on the track but then someone else said just swap the fluid to Castrol SRF and call it a day. Since this is my daily too I dont want to go too crazy and ruin the ride quality.
I just want to make sure I am not missing anything stupid that will ruin my first weekend out with the car. What did you guys wish you bought on day one?
Honestly, keep the stock airbox for now. I once tried a fancy intake and my IATs went through the roof... definitely not worth the risk in that Florida heat. Spend your cash on Castrol SRF React Racing Brake Fluid instead; that 590F dry boiling point is mandatory for Sebring. I saw a guy lose his pedal because he skipped the flush. Also, grab ZL1 Addons Deluxe Rock Guards for cheap paint protection.
Like someone mentioned, tow hook fitment is a total minefield. Tbh, I wasted cash on a cheap universal set that just scratched my bumper... super disappointing. Ended up with the ZL1 Addons Premium Tow Hook Cadillac CT5-V and it actually fits. Also, comparing my track setups:
Re: "Just catching up. Watch the tow hook thread..."
Actually, I totally agree on skipping the intake... keeping those IATs low is the priority in Florida. Tbh, I've logged enough data to see that most open-element filters just suck in hot engine bay air once you're stationary in the pits. I've tried many DIY setups over the years, and I remember my first big track weekend where I focused on power instead of cooling. My brakes got so hot they actually melted the plastic sensor caps. It was a mess. Now I spend my time on the stuff that keeps the car alive rather than the stuff that makes it loud. A few things I learned from that disaster:
Just catching up. Watch the tow hook thread pitch; generic ones dont always fit the chassis mount.
