Hey everyone! I finally took delivery of my new Kia EV9 GT-Line last week, and I’m absolutely loving the driving experience so far. However, after seeing how many distracted drivers are out there, I’ve decided that getting a high-quality dash cam is my top priority for protecting this investment.
I’ve been doing some research, but I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed because the EV9 has such a unique interior and advanced tech. I’m specifically looking for a setup that offers both front and rear coverage (2-channel). Since the EV9 has that sleek digital rear-view mirror and a pretty massive sensor suite behind the windshield, I’m worried about finding a mount that doesn't obstruct the cameras or look messy with wires hanging everywhere.
A couple of specific things I’m looking for: first, I’d love something that supports 4K resolution so I can actually read license plates clearly. Second, I’m curious if anyone has successfully hardwired a dash cam into the EV9’s fuse box for parking mode without triggering any 'battery drain' warnings. I know EVs can be a bit finicky with 12V battery management, and I definitely don't want to wake up to a dead car!
I’ve looked at the FitcamX since it looks OEM, but I’ve also heard great things about the BlackVue DR970X and the Viofo A139 Pro. If you’ve installed a dash cam in your EV9, which model did you go with, and how was the installation process around the trim pieces?
Budget isn't a huge concern—I'm willing to spend around $400-$600 for the right setup that offers peace of mind and a clean look. What are your best recommendations for the EV9?

+1 for FitcamX!
1. It's sooo much cheaper if you just DIY the install since the trim pieces basically pop right off, plus no extra battery drain so far!!

Stumbled upon this discussion and honestly, I get the 12V anxiety... I've been messing with EV dash cams for years and the EV9 is definitely *finicky* with its battery management. Basically, if you hardwire directly to the fuse box for parking mode, you're almost guaranteed to get that "discharging due to external devices" warning eventually.
Here's what I recommend: if you want 4K and reliability without the headache, skip the direct hardwire and use a dedicated battery pack like the BlackVue Power Magic Ultra Battery B-130X tucked under the seat. For the camera, the VIOFO A139 Pro 2-Channel Dash Cam with Sony STARVIS 2 Sensor is literally the best for reading plates cuz of that sensor. To keep it clean, use the Dongar Dashcam Power Adapter (10-pin Type H) for Kia/Hyundai to tap into the mirror power for the front—it's way easier than pulling trim, tho you'll still need a separate run for the rear. Just be careful with the digital mirror cable, it's sensitive! Good luck! 👍
Been using this for years, no complaints
Im so hyped for you, the EV9 is literally a spaceship on wheels! For the dash cam situation, honestly just go with Vantrue. You can basically pick any of their multi-channel systems and you will be set because their night vision tech is basically magic and it looks super professional once its in.
Hey, congrats on the new ride! I totally get the anxiety about the 12V battery—EVs are highkey sensitive with that stuff. Honestly, for the cleanest look in the EV9, I went with the FitcamX 4K Front and Rear Dash Cam for Kia EV9 and I'm sooo happy with it. It basically replaces the plastic shell behind the mirror, so it looks 100% factory. No messy wires at all, which is a huge win for the interior vibe.
But if you're serious about parking mode and avoiding battery drain, I'd actually recommend pairing whatever cam you choose with a BlackVue Power Magic Ultra Battery B-130X. I have this tucked under the seat; it charges while I drive and powers the cam when parked, so it never even touches the car's 12V battery. For the best 4K quality, the VIOFO A139 Pro 2-Channel 4K Dash Cam with Sony STARVIS 2 Sensor is basically the gold standard right now for reading plates. The trim pieces in the EV9 are actually pretty forgiving to pop off, just take your time! good luck 👍
Works great for me
