I really need to get a new car by the end of next month because my old Honda finally gave up on me and the repair cost is basically what the car is worth at this point. Ive been looking at the Kia Seltos or maybe the Sportage if I can stretch the budget to like 32k but honestly looking online is making me so stressed out and anxious. I went on the official Kia site to build one and it looks great but then you go to the local inventory and its all dealer markups or stuff they dont actually have on the lot. Then I tried TrueCar because I heard it gives you a fair price but some people on Reddit were saying it just sends your info to five different dealers who wont stop calling you and the price isnt even guaranteed. I just want a site where I can actually see the real price and maybe even do the paperwork without sitting in a dealership office for six hours. Is there a better site for this? I saw something about Carvana having new Kias now but Im not sure if thats legit or if the warranty still works the same way. Every time I think I found a good lead I see a review saying the fees are hidden. Where are you guys actually buying these days?
Saw this today and totally feel your pain with the dealer games. If you want to stay under that 32k mark without the headache, try using CarEdge. It gives you data on dealer inventory age which is huge for negotiating. If a car has been sitting for a while, they are way more likely to drop the markups just to move the unit.
Check Kia Seltos LX on Cars.com to find actual VINs. Kia Sportage EX deals are usually better through Costco Auto. Cars.com shows what is actually there, but Costco stops the haggling.
Building on the earlier suggestion, I think focused research is fantastic for beating those markups!! To really help you out, are you aiming for that 32k to be your total out-the-door price with taxes included, or just the sticker price? Also, is AWD a dealbreaker for you or would FWD work? Knowing those specifics is amazing for filtering through the junk listings!
