Must-have performance accessories for a Tesla Model S Plaid?

I finally took delivery of my Model S Plaid and the acceleration is absolutely insane, but I am already looking for ways to tighten up the handling and braking. I noticed the stock brakes can feel a bit mushy after a few hard pulls, so I am considering an upgrade there first.

I am specifically looking into high-performance brake pads or even a full carbon ceramic kit if it is worth the cost. I am also curious about tire setups like Pilot Sport Cup 2s and if anyone recommends specific lowering links for better cornering stability.

What are the absolute must-have performance accessories you would recommend to really unlock this car's potential?

> I noticed the stock brakes can feel a bit mushy after a few hard pulls Respectfully, I'd consider another option cuz just swapping pads is kinda risky for a 5,000lb missile. In my experience, you really gotta go for the full Tesla Model S Plaid Carbon Ceramic Brake Kit for actual safety. also maybe skip those Cup 2s unless its a dry track day - they’re way too sketchy in the wet. i’d suggest Michelin Pilot Sport 4S for better daily reliability!! gl!

Ok so i just got mine and the power is SCARY... i was super worried about the brakes too lol. I didnt wanna drop 20k on a kit so i just got Unplugged Performance Street and Track Brake Pads and Castrol SRF React Racing Brake Fluid. It cost like $700 total and basically fixed that mushy feel! I think u should consult a pro tho cuz brakes are serious stuff... glad I saved the cash!

^ This. Also, if you are really trying to fix the handling, dont sleep on the sway bars. Everyone talks about brakes because they are scary, but the body roll on a 5,000lb car is just as sketchy when you are hitting corners. I would suggest looking at Unplugged Performance Adjustable Sway Bar Set instead of just going straight to lowering links. Be careful with the links tho. If you drop the car too much with something like NGI Tesla Model S Plaid Lowering Links, you are gonna put a ton of stress on the CV joints. I have seen guys get those nasty vibrations during launches because the half-shaft angle is all out of whack. If you do go that route, you might want to consider Mountain Pass Performance Rear Camber Arms too so you can actually get your alignment back to spec. Otherwise, you will just eat through those expensive tires in like 3k miles lol. Honestly, the sway bars give you that on rails feel without the mechanical headaches of a slammed suspension. It basically helps the car rotate better without messing with the air suspension geometry too much...

Similar situation here

  • I saved $15k by swapping to:
  • Mountain Pass Performance Plaid Front Brake Rotors Basically fixed the mushy feel for way less than those pricey ceramics!
