so i just pulled the trigger on a 2024 cx-5 and im picking it up this friday but i gotta get the interior sorted before i take my dog on a road trip up to olympic national park next week so i need stuff fast. i spent like three hours on reddit looking at those tuxmat floor liners and everyone says theyre the gold standard but i saw some photos where they look super bulky and i dont want it to feel like im driving in a plastic tub plus theyre expensive. i also saw those cheap plastic center console dividers on amazon but some people say they rattle like crazy and that would drive me nuts.
heres what im dealing with:
im really stuck on whether to get the mazda oem rubber mats or just go with weathertech or what... are there any must have small things im missing that actually make a difference for daily driving? i really need to get this stuff ordered tonight so it gets here by thursday...
Congrats on the new ride. Honestly, skip the Tuxmats if you want that factory look. They cover way too much of the carpet for some people and feel a bit extra. For Seattle weather and a muddy lab, Ive been super satisfied with the Mazda OEM High Wall All-Weather Floor Mats. They fit perfectly because they're made specifically for the car, and they dont have that industrial plastic tub vibe that Weathertech sometimes has. They're heavy-duty rubber and keep all that PNW rain contained without looking like you're driving a work truck. Since you're hauling a dog and worried about the seat backs, you 100% need the Mazda OEM Cargo Tray with Seat Back Protectors. Its a multi-piece system that covers the trunk floor and the actual back of the rear seats using velcro. When you fold them down, the whole area is protected from claws and mud. It's way better than a generic cover. Regarding the console, I grabbed the Vesul Center Console Organizer for Mazda CX-5 and it works well without any noise. The trick is making sure it has those little removable rubber inserts at the bottom of the trays... those stop the rattling you're worried about. Should stay right around your 300 dollar budget if you find a dealer selling online at a discount.
Been using this for years, no complaints
