Hey everyone! I just picked up a new WRX and I'm absolutely obsessed, but I’m already stressed about keeping the interior mint. Since it’s my daily driver, I’m worried about tracking in mud and wearing down those nice Ultrasuede seats. I’ve been looking at the OEM all-weather liners versus something like WeatherTech or Husky, but I’d love to know which ones actually have the best fitment for our floor layout. Also, does anyone use a specific leather or fabric protector that doesn't mess with the feel of the seats? I want to keep it looking showroom fresh without it feeling like a plastic-wrapped couch. What are your must-have interior protection mods for the Rex?
So for your situation, I think the OEM liners are actually kinda mid for the price. I've had way better luck with Husky Liners WeatherBeater Floor Mats 99741—they're usually around $160 and cover the dead pedal better than WeatherTech. For the seats, grab 3M Scotchgard Fabric Water Shield 13.5-Ounce Can for like $12. It keeps things mint without that weird greasy feel. gl!
Sooo congrats on the new Rex! Seriously, i feel u on the stress—that new car smell is intoxicating but the first mud stain is a total vibe killer. Since you're worried about keeping it showroom fresh on a budget, I'd suggest being a bit cautious with the "universal" fits you see online. They usually fit like trash and can actually be dangerous if they bunch up under the pedals. For your situation, here's what I recommend to stay safe and clean: * 3D MAXpider KAGU Series Black Floor Mats for 2022-2024 Subaru WRX - These are basically the gold standard for fitment without looking like a work truck. They're usually around $160. Make sure you get the ones specifically for the VB chassis so they don't slide around. Safety first!
* Gtechniq Smart Fabric I1 AB 500ml - I'm always wary of fabric protectors making seats feel "crispy," but this stuff is legit. It's about $25. It keeps the Ultrasuede soft while making liquids bead right off. Just don't SOAK the seats; a light mist is all you need. * Spigen Tempered Glass Screen Protector Glas.tR Slim for Subaru WRX 11.6-inch - Honestly, this is a MUST. That screen is a fingerprint and scratch magnet. For $30, it's cheap insurance. I'd also suggest keeping a bottle of Chemical Guys InnerClean Interior Quick Detailer and Protectant SPI_663_16 in the trunk for quick wipe-downs. It’s safe for the dash and won't leave that greasy, blinding glare you get from some cheaper brands. Just be careful not to get it on the suede tho! Anyway, hope that helps keep the ride mint. gl!
For your situation, I would suggest checking out TuxMat Floor Mats for Subaru WRX 2022-2024 because the coverage is honestly on another level. They use a three-layer technical design that basically seals off the entire footwell—highkey essential if you're gonna be tracking in mud daily. Since you're worried about the Ultrasuede, Gyeon Q2 FabricCoat 400ml is probably your best bet for a high-end protector. It's an SiO2-based coating that wont mess with the texture but creates a crazy hydrophobic barrier... idk why people still use basic aerosols when this stuff exists. Just make sure the seats are 100% clean before you apply it so it bonds properly. Tbh, it's the most effective way to keep it looking mint without that 'plastic-wrapped' feel. Good luck with the new Rex!
Ugh, I am in the exact same boat and it is so stressful. I actually went with the Subaru OEM All-Weather Floor Mats thinking they'd be the perfect fit since they're literally from the dealer, but unfortunately they've been a huge letdown for me... the coverage around the dead pedal is basically non-existent and I've already got dirt ground into the carpet there. It's so frustrating. I even compared them to some WeatherTech FloorLiner Laser Measured mats my buddy has and those felt super stiff and slippery when wet, which I hated. I'm still looking for the perfect solution myself... are you dealing with actual mud and slush or is it more like dry dirt and sand? Also, are you looking for something that covers the whole floor including the hump in the back, or just the front footwells?
Been using this for years, no complaints
