Just picked up my limited trim last week and man, the space in here is wild compared to my old Kona EV. I thought I knew what I was doing with car organization but the open floor design is actually kind of a nightmare for my stuff sliding around when I take corners. Im looking to get this thing kitted out before the rainy season really hits here in Seattle next month. I have about 400 bucks set aside for the interior and I want to make it count.
Here is what Im looking for specifically:
I tried one set of generic mats from Amazon but they were total junk and didnt line up with the pegs at all. Anyone found a brand that actually feels premium? Also curious if anyone has found a good way to utilize that magnetic pad to the left of the dash... it feels like a wasted opportunity right now. What are the absolute essentials you guys are actually using every day?
Like someone mentioned, the floor situation is a bit of a gamble if you dont do your homework. I spent way too much money on three different brands before finding what actually worked without jamming the console track. One thing you really need to be careful with is the sliding console on your Limited trim. Most manufacturers sell mats designed for the fixed console in the SE and SEL trims, and if you force a one-piece mat in there, you basically kill the best feature of the car interior. I finally settled on the BestEvMod Ioniq 5 All Weather Floor Mats TPE because they actually account for that movement properly. For that empty abyss under the dash, I would suggest looking at a dedicated drawer rather than just a shallow bin. I tried a cheap silicone tray at first but everything just rattled around and drove me crazy. You might want to consider the BestEvMod Under Console Storage Box Drawer since it actually stays put when you are taking those Seattle hills and corners. Just make sure to check the clearance when you install it... I have seen some poorly made ones that scrape the floor carpet and leave marks. Regarding that magnetic pad, honestly, its kind of a wasted space for most people unless you get a specific plate for it. I use the LISEN Magnetic Phone Holder for MagSafe and just stuck it right on that felt area. Be careful with the cheaper magnets tho. The Ioniq 5 has some serious instant torque and your phone will fly off and end up under your seat the first time you floor it at a green light if the magnet isnt strong enough.
> All-weather floor mats that actually fit the sliding console (most seem to block it??) My car is kitted out now and I stayed well under that 400 dollar limit. These parts work well for a daily driver and honestly wont break the bank:
To add to the point above: the focus on floor mats is spot on because safety is a major factor with the flat floor design. I learned the hard way with a set I bought early on that didnt have deep enough ridges for rain. Water pooled and leaked toward the wiring under the seat. It was a total mess. Plus, if the mats arent perfectly anchored to the pegs, they can slide. I had a scary moment where the accelerator didnt spring back right because the rubber was bunching up. Looking at the discussion, protecting the screen and managing that open floor are clearly the big priorities. My experience shows that spending more on a setup that actually fits the sliding console is worth it. You dont want to lose functionality just to save money on generic gear that eventually warps. Reliability is everything.
Saved for later, ty!
